Zara runs very small - if you wear an XS or S at AT, you for sure need an M at Zara.

The red jacket is my best! Size up!

I love everything except the red jacket. I don't know, it seems kind of dated and I'm not sure if I like the color on you or the fabric.

The white jacket is lovely. Do you really need to button it. I do not button my jackets. They never fit over my apple belly.

Sweet dress. I like it because it is a bit dressier as a dress but still kind of fits your casual work vibe. I know what it's like to be a woman in science and how you are viewed if you are too dressed up. I think this dress is very flattering for you and dressy but casual enough that you would still fit your environmental norm. I just want to see it with your sand colored Fryes. Actually I want to see those boots with EVERYTHING. They are so fab on you and I've missed them

I think the white in a larger color would be a nice jacket. I actually also like the black quilted style a lot, but I know it's not your fav and the sleeves are too long. The red doesn't do it for me, I don't like the fabrication or color enough. You have a great figure but I have to agree with your comments about the dress. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable wearing something so body conscious either.

I really like the idea of all of these jackets, but no one seems just perfect yet. I think the red one is the best, except that I am not sure about the color. The white one looks very sharp, but it seems like the white is more graphic whereas I feel you might suit a creamier white best? I also agree it might need to be sized up. I like the idea of the third one, but yes, the necessary alterations are problematic. The colors of the dress are perfect on you, and you have no tummy to reveal, but the main thing that strikes me is that it seems so different from your usual style and you mention feeling uncomfortable, that I am afraid it is not something you are going to wear often. Would you feel differently about the dress with a black blazer on? I could imagine that for work, like Sona mentions above.

I am loving your haircut. And how you posed for this series! You don't sound like you love any of the jackets which means they have the potential to become closet orphans so I would say pass and keep looking. The dress is gorgeous, I would try it on styled with a jacket, moto and other ways. I have an' imitation' Bailey and could never wear it without a topper. It changes it from very bodycon to not so bodycon and perhaps even work appropriate!

The Bailey Dress is amazing. I love that color combo and it is so flattering on you. The jackets just look too small in the front (like they won't close). I prefer the white and would be curious to see the next size. I think that red is just a bit bright. I've been eyeing some Zara jackets online, but am unsure of their sizing.

I adore the red jacket on you, and I think the fit is perfect. It isn't something intended to be worn closed, and a size bigger would not be flattering, IMO. The white is a great colour for you, although I'd like to see a style with less sleeve pouf. And I concur with popular opinion in saying what tummy??

Love the white jacket! I'd definitely try the next size up. It's such a flattering cut. I also love the dress. It looks smashing on you and I see no tummy at all.

The red jacket looks too blue-red to me. I'm not crazy about the style or fabrication either. You are way to hip and fab for that one. I like the hunting style quilted jacket but I hear you on the alteration problems.

I know it doesn't fit and maybe your boots and short hair are influencing me, but I rather like the military vibe of the third jacket on you. If you want to explore jackets beyond a blazer cut, would you consider this style? I suggest not OTT with tons of buttons and doodads but more simple like this one. I guess another take on that jacket may be Asian what with the mandarin collar, but I see faintly military. . .

Thanks, Jen, for the thumbs up on the white jacket, and Shannon, for the thumbs up on the dress. Have you gotten yours yet?

Suz, thanks, LOL, I think I'm "glowing" because I've been suffering from a sinus infection all week, and my face is kind of red and swollen! I know what you mean about the red. It is really red. I think I'd feel great it in on Christmas Even, but I'm not sure about every day use. The neckline is such that it could be hard to wear over denim shirts, or any button down for that matter. I did just notice that the white one also comes in cobalt. Hmmm...

Wow - I think that white jacket is really great! And I'm surprising myself by saying that because I have a poisoned eye for poofy shoulders. I'd say it's worth trying to size up if you can see yourself wearing it because I love this entire outfit on you! I think the dress looks great, but if you aren't comfortable wearing it (I'm the same way with a body con dress...) then I'd say pass. The other jackets aren't quite working to my eye, although I really want to love that red one.

My gracious! May I just say that you are looking FABULOUS?!?!?!?!

You have really grown into your haircut somehow. You just look stunning all round. And I do not see this "tummy" of which you speak. I see a glowing woman who is looking extremely stylish in her trendy try-ons!

Okay, now onto the jackets. Having just been to Zara and tried on a couple of these or rejected them on the rack, I know whereof you speak.

I actually really like the red jacket on you. Is it ever meant to be closed, in fact? And if you paired it with, say, the skirt and a denim shirt and booties...would that reduce the "sweet" factor?

However, I understand your hesitation about it. I didn't even bother to try it because I feared the red was too bright a red for me. (I ended up trying on two other jackets mentioned in my thread).

I like the idea of the white one, too. I can't comment on the fit (it does look as if sizing up might be worth a try) but it has to feel good.

I think the other one just doesn't fit right, sad to say.

As for the Bailey dress - WOW!! Great purchase, and I hope you will wear it!!

I really like jackets, but my entire collection runs pretty classic (i.e., they're all "blazers"). I was hoping to branch out a bit this fall, so I decided to try Zara, since someone (Jonesy?) mentioned that they run small in the shoulders. Since I normally need petite sizing, I thought they might work for me, even though they only have regular sizes. So, here's the first round of attempts.

1/2/3/4 - I feel a bit like a Christmas tree in this and it may be too small across the chest (see me trying to close it?). When I tried it with a skirt, it looked a bit too sweet. What do you think?

5/6/7 - This is WAY to small across the chest as you can see in 5. And I'm not sure about the poofy shoulders, so I don't know if it's even worth sizing up. And is a white jacket really me?

8 - No way - the sleeves are too long and too complicated (piping, snaps) to alter.

9/10 - I swore I wouldn't jump on the Bailey Bandwagon, but I really like the colors of this when Shannon posted it. I'm a bit self-concious about its body-huggingness, and I'm not sure I could bring myself to wear it to work. It also is quite the tummy-revealer.

OK, I appreciate your wading through this rather long post and your opinions.

thanks!
