BUT....are you ready for this?....it is long enough for me to tie behind my back, which I tried at the consignment store, so can wear my denim jacket on top to dress it down without the bow being in the way or showing at all. I always want to be able to wear an item in more than one way. If you feel that you would like to remove the bow, it's a fairly simple operation: open the side seams, using a seamripper...take out the bow, stitch up the sideseams and you're done.
