I had a really bad squint as a child and wore an eye patch for many years and for that reason have always felt a little awkward with my looks. I am always surprised to receive a compliment on my looks but it also puts a spring in my step.</p> <p>I loved this jacket from the moment I saw it in early December but with a price tag of £60.00 the money was not readily available at that time. When it appeared in the sale I knew I had to sample the look.</p> <p>I think the piece may have earned a spot in my wardrobe, I expect I can use it as an experiment in bold and graphic and at a £15.00 sale price really have nothing to lose. </p> <p>Thank you Suz and Mochi, I will need to take a look at how I can adapt my make-up to balance the jacket and play with colours to see what works. And I am wanting to echo the other things she said, too. </p> <p> I think I understand your fear that it overpowers you...my colouring is similar and I have similar problems with super high contrast like this -- yet I am drawn to it in some ways. </p> <p>It is also tricky to show these items. They often photograph much better than softer contrast outfits and look more striking. So everybody jumps all over them when the effect in real life can be a bit different. </p> <p>My solution with a piece like this is to wear with some of my more flattering colours (if possible) and if not, to amp up the makeup a bit (but not a ton, because that can be even more garish). Basically to know it's not technically my "best," but if i love it to go with it anyway.
