That dress is gorgeous on you! Love the moto too.

I am also drawn to drapey tops that often aren't quite right on me. I do have the long-sleeve Pleione crossover that Angie recommended a while back and find it just flattering enough - something about the high neckline makes it work better for me. I'm thinking of trying the sleeveless for summer.

The dress stands out as a 10/10. Def a keeper. Agree with returning the top. If you want to try a draped design, maybe something with a twist or drape across the bust, and slim fit below?

Just want to add to the general chorus of approval on the jacket and dress - they both look great on you. I'm wondering if the fabric is part of the problem with the top. Is it jersey? I find jersey knits never drape as nicely as woven. Hope your knee is feeling good.

Suz and Gigi, I think you're right about it being made for a taller/bustier person in general. That's helpful, thanks! I really like the crossover style and have tried on a few others that didn't work at all. I was hopeful here but it looks like this might be a style that just isn't going to work for me.

I love the jacket and the dress! They both look awesome. And I think that they meet your style criteria of arty and edgy...something a little off the beaten path.

I agree with the others that the drapey top doesn't fit well. I think Suz is right that it is made for someone who has quite a bit of a longer torso and wider shoulders. But if you really like that type of top, keep looking...it may just be that particular clothing manufacturer that's the problem.

The dress looks stunning on you, Dee! Great find! The jacket's cute, too, and will be fab with white denim.

The top I think is quite simply made for a taller person. Also, that much drape is difficult for anyone with a dainty shoulder line and bust to wear. I have sadly resigned myself to avoiding drape in the top. There are some crossover blouses with subtle drape that will work, but nothing where the fabric pools and collects like this. It's much better on an apple body type.

Thanks ladies!

Looks like the top is a firm return so back to the store it goes. As Aida said, the drape and pooling is part of the look, but everyone is agreement that something is off about it here. I wish I could identify exactly what so I know what to avoid in the future. Maybe it is just too much all around - I have a hard time telling drape from too much fabric.

I'm super excited that the dress is getting a thumbs-up though!

Love the moto and dress, they both look great. The shirt is a bit tougher, I prefer to see those without the look of a cami underneath which might limit its usefulness; and as Shevia pointed out the bottom looks a bit off, to me it looks like the fabric is draping too much and pooling a bit down there (which is kind of part of the look, but doesn't quite seem right here). I do like the sleeves on it a lot, though.

Agree with Ceit. The dress is smashing on you. The jacket is great too. The white top sort of sags at the bottom and doesn't suit you like the other pieces.

I may have gone a bit overboard shopping for spring/summer over the last week, after being stuck at home for six weeks. So I wanted to make sure that I wasn't just caught in the euphoria of being able to leave my house before I started pulling tags off. Here's what came home with me:

Pics 1 and 2: Catherine by Catherine Malandrino jacket. It's cropped (even on me!) and I love the ink blue ikat print. I usually have a really hard time fitting moto jackets because they come down almost to my hips and pull when zipped, but this one doesn't. Closed and open pics below.

Pics 3 and 4: Calvin Klein top. I've been looking for tops that are not basic tees for the summer and I liked the drapey casualness of it. This one I'm the most uncertain about in terms of look/fit, since I don't really own anything else like it, so I'd appreciate your opinions. Full length and close-up picture.

Pics 5 & 6: Dress from local boutique. I can see myself wearing it to weddings. parties, etc. I plan to get the should straps taken up a smidge. It's 1) made of cotton/spandex (but with a good weight to it), not polyester, and 2) made in Canada, so it was a little pricey. But I LOVE the pattern, length, and how the waist panel hits at my actual waist. Pic 5 of dress and Pic 6 with blazer as I would wear it in evenings or chillier temps.

I'm trying to focus on only buying pieces that I love and that are modern, arty and/or edgy. I don't want to be bringing in things that don't work so I appreciate your comments and thoughts!
