Okay, so I'm glad you all like it, but - I've decided to return it after all. I tried it on again and the too big shoulders are just bugging me. It's probably not very noticeable to other people, but I'm noticing it. After all I can still wear the grey one until I find one that really fits, plus I have a great new rain jacket too. The color is lovely for sure, but it's not like the grey looks bad on me. I think I had the sales googles on... The price is great, but in the long run I might be happier with one that isn't marked down but fits perfectly.

Love it Astrid! What a beautiful colour on you and it will be able to take a lot of different colour accessories. I'm not very good at fit issues but my only real concern is that the back vent doesn't seem to close completely. That may just be in this pic though. They sometimes are made that way too so hard to tell in the pics.

Thanks everyone! Good point about still having the old one in addition if more layering is needed... I think I'm going to keep it. It's a great coat for the money and I know I will be glad to have it once it gets colder. And I can definitely see myself wearing it a lot.

It looks good from here! I see no fit issues at all. I agree with missvee....keep the old one for days when you wear something bulky. I have several coats for different types of outfits. This is how you build a coat wardrobe, one piece at a time.

I do not spot any fit issues and my first look at the photos I thought the sleeves were perfecto...
I think it is a great weight for your climate, colour is super but you have to love it otherwise it might languish in the closet.

I think the fit & colour both look great on you, much better than the old one. The only thing giving me pause would be the layering capability. You know best if that will annoy you.

The colour is lovely too, and didn't you say you wanted to add more colour to your wardrobe? Or was that Angie? :-).

I love the coat on you. I really can't see the fit issues, the sleeves look a good length to me, specially if like you say, you'll be wearing gloves or if your pullover will peek out a bit. The color is fantastic and #4 shows a nice silhouette for the back. Keep, keep if you can since it's a good value.

Is there any extra fabric to be let out at the cuff? I had a tailor let out the sleeves of a vintage wool coat. It was a few years ago but I am pretty sure it was an inexpensive alteration.

Thanks Diane! The sleeves are rather short when I bend my arm, it's because this is a petite size. It doesn't bother me, as long as it doesn't look off. When it's very cold I'm wearing gloves anyway or I put my hands into the pockets (the ones on this coat are placed just right for that). And tt's more the sleeves that are the issue with layering, there's enough room in the body. My cropped wool pullover worked, so I should be fine with the usual fall layers. I just won't be able to layer my super thick knit or a fleece under it.

The fit looks pretty good, I have to say. The sleeves look fine in length. Do you feel there's enough length when you bend your arm? When you say you can only layer a thinner sweater underneath, could you just move the buttons a tiny bit for more room, or is the sleeve width the factor? The colour and fabric look great.

Thanks Eva! The fit issues aren't about comfort, it definitely feels good. I only have the grey one, so returning it would mean wearing the one that's too big. I also have a puffer coat for when it's really cold, but I don't have an alternative to existing wool coat. As for the length, I'm not particular about that. I do think this looks good with both pants and with straight cut skirts.

And yes, we do have Ebay! I've never shopped for clothes on Ebay, I might give that a try.

It's so cute & I love the colour! Do the fit issues make wearing it uncomfortable or you just think it could look better? Because it looks good in these pics to my eye, but if it feels uncomfortable, maybe it should go back. Otherwise, it seems like it's a good deal: if you returned it, would you still need to find a short wool coat? It's no fun being coat-less when it's cold out.

(Also, on a separate topic, I know you don't have thrift stores, but you do have ebay in Germany? It's riskier of course because you're not trying on the clothes first, but I just ask the seller for certain measurements & compare them to clothes I already own, and I've had very good luck doing that. Could be an option for you to stretch your Euro a bit further.)

When I saw my LE wool peacoat on a big sale I just had to try the smaller size. This one would be 65€. I wore the grey one constantly last fall and winter, because it didn't get that cold here. But the fit wasn't quite perfect to start with and loosing some weight made the issues more obvious. I know that it doesn't look so bad in the pics I made for comparison, but IRL the fit is clearly off. The size down fits, probably not with a very bulky sweater underneath it but a thinner pullover should be fine. It still has the same fit issues, just less noticeable. Slightly too wide shoulders and too much room on top!

I'm pretty sure I won't find a really warm wool coat in comparable quality for that kind of money later on this fall, but I could just keep wearing the grey one until the one comes along...

What do you think? Keep even with minor fit issues (it's much better than the grey one after all) or return and think of PPP? Thanks. :)

#1-4
Purple coat, one size down from the old one. Do you think the sleeves are long enough?

#5
Color in natural light.

#6-7
Grey coat for comparison.
