I have just successfully washed and dried my white denim jacket in hot water, and YAY- perfect fit on the shoulders achieved. Too tight sleeves would be no good for comfort or scrunching. The shoulders certainly don't look too big in the pictures. I often have the same trouble though with coats and jackets: if I get a good fit elsewhere on the body, the shoulders tend to be just a tad too big.
