Wonderful jacket. I am looking forward to seeing the size down. Something is just a bit "off" in the photos to my eye. Trying the other size will sort it out.

Coco, then I say definitely try a 40. Like I said above, I've had painful experiences with the cut of RO jacket shoulders, but if you can move your arms in a 40, go for it!

Thank you everyone for your wise opinions.

I am really glad I heard from the sewing experts as to the fit of this garment. I think the fit is good around the shoulders and bust but I too wonder if I should take a size down. The sleeves are actually supposed to be tight and they are quite loose (not to mention long) on me, which further takes away from the structure of the garment. The knit cuffs are not tight, they might stretch quite a bit. I think the garment is supposed to be tight around the shoulders and bust. If you hold it up it is wider in the waist than the bust!

Suz this would be both an indoor and outdoor jacket. I could wear this starting in January when we have the odd warm day. I also have an oversized coat that this would fit under.

Gorgeous jacket! And - what are you doing with your hair? I love it!
OK - back to the jacket. To me, the sleeve length is fine - I like that they are longer. My only thought when I looked at the model pics (and then your pics) is that yours doesn't seem to be as cropped as the model pic. I'm assuming that yours is longer because you ordered a larger size. Also, are you planning on wearing it both open and zipped up? If so - then this size works in order to accommodate your bust when it is zipped. If not - then can you try a size down just to compare? Overall, I think its a great jacket for your style and can see it easily transition into your wardrobe! (I'm jealous, because I want it! :-)

I like IK's point about the nature of Rick Owen sleeves. We often see something fudged on a live model and believe it is "meant" to be like that, when maybe the stylists didn't even realize what they were working with.

What a gorgeous jacket! The color and style are fantastic. I like the oversized fit but am wondering about the sleeves. It doesn't bother me in the least that they are long but will they slide down over your hands during movement? If they stay scrunched like in pics 1 - 4, then no problem IMHO. But if they tend to want to slide down like in pic 5, that would be a deal break for me.

I really like this jacket and the sleeves are cool, but I'm with everyone that, to me, they seem too long. In fact, longer than intended -- which is clear when compared to the model pics you posted. And to me they look sort of uncomfortably long. That's a lot of scrunching -- how easy is it to move around and do things? Are you at all restricted?

Could you try the next size down? It would be worth it. Gorgeous jacket, really.

What gorgeous leather. And the name: 'Pearl" truly seems to describe the colour. It's luminous, and you look luminous in it. I can see you wearing this with great joy. The leather looks incredibly soft.

Now, as to sizing. I tend to agree with Shevia -- on the models it looks a bit shrunken with long arms; on you the fit is not shrunken. It seems just verging on oversize. Do you want the oversize look? If so, this is the right size. If not, then you might need a size or two down. I think the size lower would still close over your bust.

Also, I guess relevant: indoor or outdoor jacket for you? To my mind, oversize works better as outdoor jacket. But I live in a completely different climate so my thought may be useless there. I think this way because I have to layer a coat over top of my indoor jackets in winter.

The sleeves are obviously meant to be intentionally long. But it appears they are just TOO long here....so if you keep, I would have them taken up a bit. I can't speak for you, but a sleeve that constantly falls down and needs to be pushed back up is a sleeve I can't bear wearing; I hate fussing like that.

I love my Rick Owens gear. His items are timeless. How are the shoulder seams? That's where my bugaboo is, they are cut extremely high and tight for the right shoulder line. If they fit there, then I'd say you're golden.

Ok first of all there is no way Italian 42 is equal to US 8. Maybe a 6 and very often a 4 in my experience. Why the Italians have their own sizing system is beyond me but that is what there is.
So a little bit of me wants to see this in I40 because it actually looks a bit shrunken on the models and a bit oversized on you. But maybe you like the oversized (as you know I tend to favor oversized also).
The material looks gorgeous even though I think your wall is not the best background for it. I have a feeling it looks better and better the longer and closer you see it, what do you think?

Denise I simply cannot comment sensibly! It's Rick Owens and it's leather! I am blinded my his genius and I love it:). Now about the sleeves (as I try to focus) I like that they are too long. I think it's a bit of a design feature. He seems to do that on a lot of his pieces and I find it interesting. It also demonstrates just how soft that leather must be. I love it! If you love it, you should keep it.

I love the style, color and fit on you. Great jacket, and I can see why you stalked it. I'm a little hesitant about the sleeves, although they look to be designed intentionally long. In the side view (photo 4), there's a uniform ruching, which is nice. That's one way to wear them at the current length--I think I like that effect better than what is shown on the models, with the extra length pooled at the cuff. You could shorten the sleeves, too, if you wanted a more conventional look. The knit cuff is probably the easiest type of sleeve finish to shorten. I do think you picked the right size, judging from the fit everywhere else.

I see the model is wearing also some scrunch on the wristles, but on your lower arms the leather looks (and does perhaps also feel?) much more stiff. Otherwise, great color and quality, I think!

The jacket fits you really well--I like it on you. It fits well in the waist and bust, though the sleeves seem a tad long (they only look long in the side profile photo). How would you wear this jacket?

I stalked this jacket for months. What do you think? This is an Italian size 42, I sized up so it would fit my bust. Reserving my opinions until later to see what the forum thinks. More fun that way, right?

Also included is a picture from Forward by Elyse Walker. Purchased from Nordstrom, not Forward.

Thank you!
