I don't think I would size up in this one. It'd be interesting to see, just for analyzing and all of that, but I suspect that this is just the right size for you.

As a pear you are two different sizes on your top and your bottom. Normally you want to fit for your widest part. Your hips are your widest part, and this dress is fitting them just fine! While also fitting your top half quite perfectly (that is a little difficult to tell with your arms up for the photo, but from what I can see, I would not want to go any larger.)

Compare to the dresses on your other thread. In those cases, the bottoms did not fit you nearly as well. They were a smidge too small in the hips. Can you see it?

Ignore hem length when you look for fit; hem length is the simplest and less expensive alteration. Focus on width. Does it fit in the shoulders? The waist? The hips? With this dress I say YES YES YES.

Hem length I think is a matter of preference here. I personally prefer lengths that hit at the knee and think this dress would look great at that length. But, midi's are in. So, you could certainly wear this as a midi. If so, I would be interested to see it with heels. But, would you wear it with heels? If you want to stay at midi length, you might have it tapered in just a bit at the sides. I would recommend pinning it and taking more photos. Pin it at knee length. Then try midi length with it tapered gently just a bit.

Yes you may be able to size down in that style and get a sleek but comfortable fit. Are you up for shortening it yourself or via hem shop if it's sitll too long? I think the way the skirt falls straight from the hip asks for a knee-length only, as opposed to some flared skirts or some intentional midi's. Find that perfect zone for your leg line and the drape of the dress. I had to really make myself attend to perfect skirt lengths, as I found it made a big difference in my fighting the frumpiness factor.

This is a faux wrap dress. It is hard to see in the picture, but I think it might be a bit big. I have ordered it in the same size in misses versus women's and I will see if that helps.

Pants are pretty unforgiving on hips, but skirts and dresses seem much nicer to them.

Now I like this one? I am not sure I would shorten it though, I like the length and it creates what I think are the best proportions. The v neckline is very flattering for you and that's what I would be looking for in dresses and tops. Is is a wrap? It's quite stunning Thistle:)

I think this fits you quite well. I'd just have it shortened. Prefer this to the dresses on your other thread. I vote "keep"!

I wear a similar dress like that with slip, microfishnets, burgundy boots (so I'm not head-to-toe black) and with a scarf in a pretty color or pattern to keep my neck warm. If you need another layer, you could wear a cardigan with belt over top. Or denim jacket, as already suggested.

It is a nice weight. I am actually thinking the issue may be I bought it a bit big. It is supposed to be shorter ( at least it was on the model!)

I think I will see if they have a smaller size. I bought it in my pant size, but it looks like dresses fit me differently. All part of learning my post-baby body.

Is it thick enough that you could layer a button front shirt underneath and not see the lumps from the buttons and placket? If it isn't, you could wear a turtle neck underneath and a cardi on top to keep warm.

Almost any topper would do, certainly almost any colour. That's the beauty of an LBD.

It probably would look better shorter.

I don't like the length as well as the skirt you showed in the earlier thread, so I would vote pass on this one. How about trying a wrap style dress, maybe with 3/4 sleeves, and with the length just below the knee. For a jacket or topper, really the sky's the limit - black and white or any colour that you really love.

The dress is basic black, so it would go with a lot. i could pair it with tights and black boots for winter, but I am unsure one what to do to keep my upper body warm - perhaps a cardi or fitted jacket? Not sure what color as I don't want to go all black.

I think it would also be kind to a changing body - both now and if we decide to have another baby.

It's a nice hefty weight and would get me through fall if I can figure out a topper.

It is also machine washable - again a huge plus with a DD under a year of age.

Thoughts?
