I'm with Claudia on this -- I could go either way, and you actually have me thinking I might need to try a dress like #1 because I keep trying dresses that end up not feeling casual enough for me. I would normally pass by #1 in the store, thinking it would just make me look shapeless, but somehow it does seem to flatter you! Looks better on you than on the model, in fact.

I would be tempted to keep both, or try to find one in another color.

Really like both, and think they are different enough to make a case for keeping the both of them. I agree with Anna about their vibes: if you are only going to keep one, it just depends on which you think you'll want to wear more.

I really like both dresses on you Denise. The cuts fit with your style very well but the colour makes them look harsher or more conservative than how I perceive your modern, minimalist, boho style.

I like both, but agree that maybe 2 black summer dresses is overkill. Can you return one of them for a different color if one is available?
I have been loving my 2 drapey dresses I got this year. Somehow I feel even though they are a bit shapeless, they are figure enhancing. Plus changing up the belt and shoes makes for a variety of options!

I prefer dress #2, if *you* don't feel too fusty in it. Looks awfully good, awesome in truth, but does its relative lack of unconventionality and the waistedness bother you?

Reasons? Well, Suz said it all! (Btw, I thought dress #1 would make a super tunic over skinnies!)

I wish 1 were a bit longer or more tapered at the bottom...I think I like 2 better because of the bottom half (longer and seemingly more tapered), but 1 is cool too.

I actually like both on you Denise - even though they're both black, they're very different and can be worn for different occasions. #1 is more edgy in its style and #2 is more classic.

Forget the dresses. I want your SHOES!! (As usual...) What are those, Denise?

Back to the subject at hand, each of these appeals to me in a different way. I love the waist surrendering cool of #1; it looks very much like a "you" dress and is probably easier for a casual lifestyle. However, I wish it were a touch longer. Don't get me wrong. It LOOKS really good at this length, and it is a summer dress, after all. But my eye is adjusting to longer lengths, I guess. And I know that last year I had a dress about that length. I thought it would be fab. And it IS fab, while I'm standing, especially when I wear flats or low wedges. But if I sit down, it rides up something awful. And I feel uncomfortable in it. I've relegated it to the land of beach cover ups.

The second dress is stunning and looks wonderful on you, but I"m not sure it's so much your style. It does seem dressier than the first.

Not much help, am I?

To answer your question "I do"! I have quite a few black summer dresses lol

If I had to pick one I would pick dress #1. Its very modern and fresh I love it #2 is also stunning and is perhaps more classic in the tradition sense.

Both dresses are incredibly flattering on you.

I don't love #1 - I think the draping looks a little unintentional for some reason, like it just got twisted up as you pulled it on or something.

#2 onthe other hand is stunning! I think you could dress it up or down and not go wrong. I see no trace of this gut you mention.

After reading Nancy Lee's thread about the difficulty of finding summer dresses http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ess-lament I was inspired to do some shopping. I ordered these:

Pictures 1/2/3 -- Three Dots size M modern knit dress. I have it pulled down a little in pic #1, I think it naturally sits a little higher. Is it too short? Shapeless and unattractive?

Pictures 4/5/6 -- Red Dot by Three Dots size S classic knit dress. Waist sits a little low. In picture 6 I am letting my gut hang out and it still looks OK! So that's a major plus (of both dresses actually). Is this too conservative for me? That's my only hesitation. I like the longer length of this one.

What do we think? Which one is better or should I keep both? (Although, who *wants* 2 black dresses in the summer?)

Here's a link FYI:
http://www.6pm.com/three-dots-.....ress-black
I can't find a link to the other black dress, I think I got the last one.
