love the hoodie! so sometimes you have "just a casual piece". but i think with the right jacket and dressier shoes, i can see it going to gallery openings.

eta...try a semi tuck in the front to see shorter proportions.

Hey ladies! I appreciate the replies.

Suz and Joy and Alasse -- I think I'm going to pass on the merino T. I will go with something meant to be an underlayer (tighter sleeves like cuddleduds, etc.) or another merino tee from Gap or somewhere similar. I agree that my top doesn't look good in this picture, and I wasn't happy with it over the tee-- but last year the top over a l/s tee was my favorite transitional outfit. I think it needs something snugger to drape over.

Una and Cocolion-- I love the color of the hoodie and don't mind having a weekend only piece. I just can't tell if it is supposed to be that long and loose around the behind area or if it is supposed to be slimmer at the bottom to anchor the fun sleeves.

Alasse-- there is a smaller sweatshirt to try, and I might do that since I think I'm going to order some undies from them (larger size to try).

I will definitely pass on the AT top-- dissapointed in the quality and odd fit-- you should see the weird shape it came out of the packaging in!

Angie-- any thoughts on the jeans?

You might want to hold out for a layering tee that doesn't require a layer itself - are there other options, or does it look like this tee will have to do for now? I agree that the black-on-black layering isn't quite right. The hoodie is such a lovely colour on you; is there a smaller size to try? And yes, pass on the AT sweater.

No plan for all black, Una--- I just want a black extra warm under layer for under some blouses and jackets and then fell in love with the zip sweatshirt and pleione blouses in black--- IMO the purple sweatshirt takes away from the edge of the zipper, and I am not a big pattern wearer and can't wear ivory to work for dirty reasons. The hoodie is deep olive and is a gorgeous color my bathroom doesn't do justice to.

I love the jeans like this. You could hem a little and then roll for less bulk. The merino tee is great although the high crew will show when layered - that is always an issue for me. The AT shirt is too big. The hoodie is how I like my hoodies to fit, but you could size down if you prefer!

Are you sticking with all black items right now?

You look great in the jeans but I don't know about the rolling. I agree with Suz that it might be best to search for a merino top that could stand alone. I usually don't mind different shades of black together but don't think this is working. Maybe the finish or texture is too similar. For casual wear I like the sweatshirt, and vote pass on the tunic.

It was hard for me to consider the tops because all I could see was how great you look in the jeans! I mean, your long legs and tall height… it doesn't get much better. I think they are quite perfect on you. Rolled any way you want.

As for the tops, I love the sweatshirt hoodie piece from Uniqlo. It is not too big. It is fluid and contemporary -- but -- that is from the mirror photo. You know best if it overwhelms you IRL.

Not as crazy about the other two tops, the merino top is nice but more of a basic. The tunic top isn't doing it for me and I can't figure out why. I got something like this recently from H&M, but it's lightweight.

I can't comment on the jeans rolling efforts...I just know the jeans look good on you!. :)

If you get the Uniglo does that mean you won't be able to buy one that will stand alone without another layer? If that's the case, I might hold out for a different top. (For added versatility). The black blouse looks like a more faded black or less intense black and doesn't work well as a top layer here to my eye.

I can't tell about the sizing of the sweatshirt. It looks as if it is meant to be like that. And it really looks good on you -- but I see it as a strictly casual piece. So if you want to have something that will work at work, that would not be it.

As for the AT sweater, in the immortal words of Angie, NEXT! Who knows why that sweater does not do your beauty justice. I can't figure it out, that's for sure. But it does not look as wonderful on you as you deserve.

Hey ladies!

Apparently this is a big shopping week for me-- most of my orders came in a the same time.

The first few pictures are of the same black jeans from this thread rolled differently in response to Angie's comments. Angie, is that what you meant? Or do you think I should buy the Extra Longs and wear them rolled like I did with the bigger sizes?

The next pictures are of a Uniqlo black merino crew. The fabric is really nice, but the knit is a little thin for stand alone wear (I'd have to wear a tank under). I'd planned to use it as a merino tee-like layering piece under tops. The blouse shown over it is one of my favorite blouses that I've worn over a black tee in the past during the winter-- I don't know if the blouse is fading (it is polyester) or if the two are just different colors. What do you ladies think of the fit? Should I size down for slimmer sleeves, or is this just not suited for that?

Next is the Uniqlo sweatshirt I ordered. The knit is a great fabric, but I think the top itself is a size too big. What do you ladies think? That said, is it worth reordering? The color is gorgeous, but the hood would probably restrict it to wear under jackets like the grey hoodie in the last thread or casually.

Finally there is the AT sweater I was so excited about. UGH --- I don't know what is wrong with this one. I know it is probably a bit big, but IDK if it would be long enough in the front in a smaller size.

Once again, thanks for looking. I really appreciate all the advice I receive here, you guys have become my shopping buddies!
