Aw, that is sweet of your boyfriend! If you can pull it off, please keep. For me, the slipping would be the deal breaker. I actually like the high-low hem and the cropped, tent-y nature!

Josie411 -- that is a brilliant solution. Yes I do have fashion tape -- I might have to hunt to find it but own it I do. (love your kitty btw)

OK -- I am glad all of you have been honest about this item. My boyfriend gave it to me for Christmas, he purchased it at Macy's so I'm sure I can exchange it but the question is, should I keep it since he gave it to me. I do think it is modern and directional and the quality is not bad. I am not afraid of acrylic, as long as it's not too static-y and most of all -- does not pill too badly. We all know how upset I get about pilling!!!

A part of me agrees with everyone that it is bothersome with the weight pulling it back and very cropped front, and yes it is a bit limiting as I have more low rise than high rise of everything. But another part of me feels that, if I can pull it off per your suggestions, I will keep it out of love for my SO. (Thanks Inge, Janet, Angie and K for the ideas.)

For stability (slippage control) have you considered garment tape? I use this quite often to keep things in their place. Affixing in to your undergarment would prevent the slippage. http://www.amazon.com/Hollywoo.....rment+tape

I have reservations about it too. I've had things like that that seem to puff out in the front and even if I thought I liked them I got tired of the look very fast. I don't personally think that shape is flattering, but there have been discussions about foregoing traditional figure flattery. On me, things that stick out in front look very bad.

I love it too! I don't think you need high-rise jeans if you have a transitioning cami underneath--something that is just a support player, but fills the space between the bottom of the sweater and the top of your hips. I think this shape works particularly well on you because you have such a lovely hourglass figure. Such a fun, modern way to wear an argyle sweater!

REALLY want to see it with roomy bottoms like BF jeans and fluid trousers. To my eye that's a more interesting and fashionable juxtaposition than skinnies. Love the idea of pairing it with a pencil skirt too.

Theoretically I like it, I am a great fan of fair isle and the colours look really flattering on you. However it looks as if it could become VERY irritating to wear, I can imagine that you could be constantly setting the shoulder line straight or feel as if it is tight round the front of the neckline.

I really like the color and pattern on you, and fwiw I prefer it with the darker jeans. I had the same thought as Janet regarding layering over an untucked tank. That would take care of the need for high-rise jeans and a cami plus look stylish to boot. Do you have a tank or two you could try it with and post pics?

I am with Sveta...I avoid acrylic. But you live in a different climate and the new acrylic blends may be much better than the ones of my memory.

I like it for your style. Colours are great on you. And you already have a few options for wearing it so I don't buy the "hard to style" argument -- at least not when it comes to your closet. So if you like it and it feels good, then keep. Or if exchanging is an option and you think you could get something you'd prefer, than go shopping.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure about the hemline in front - it almost looks *too* cropped compared to the back, especially if it's going to slip back, as in photo 1. The color works because the pattern has cream in it, which matches your hair nicely. It's hard to return a gift, I know, so if you can't return it, I hope you can make it work!

I really like it on you, Denise. The neckline is very flattering, the colour is great on you, and the pattern fun. I bet a cropped-in-front style this short will also look great with BF jeans and skirts.

What do you think? Is this a keeper? It was a gift.
1. Worn with dark skinny jeans and wedge oxfords, sleeves fully extended.
2. Side view (wearing Newburys here).
3. Rear view (wearing Newburys).
4. Worn with low heeled booties, sleeves scrunched.
5. Trying it out with a lower half of grey.

I think Angie linked to this a few months ago when she blogged about the Fair Isle sweater trend.

It's very cropped. Here is a link http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/fr.....93874-6013 it is quite unusual for the sleeves to be shorter on me than on the model. After wearing it for a minute or two, it slips back because the back is much longer and heavier. Therefore picture 1 is the most honest representation of future performance.

It is soft enough for bare arms but the cropped nature requires a cami underneath as well as high rise jeans.

Thanks!
