It's going to be possible to wear in high summer with a little ingenuity. I like the idea of sewing cups in for coverage/ modesty, and a light cropped sweater or denim jacket. I understand what you say about the textures. Sometimes I feel that way about fabrics fighting, too -- it's a "seasonal confusion" feeling. But a really softened light wash denim or white denim might not feel so jarring with the floaty fabric. And you can keep your eyes open for something like that over time.
