I started as a top down raglan. I'll probably make belt holes when I get there, and I will pick up and add a collar and front edging when I am done. I'm really enjoying the knit so far. I don't even add up costs anymore. Knitting is my hobby, I'm not trying to save money by knitting rather than buying. If I get a wearable garment when I'm done- great. I doubt I'd be able to make it for much less than the sale price since it would take a fair amount of yarn and I have a tendency to favor the spendier yarns! I posted on Angie's blog post that I'd always found capes a little impractical, but then it occurred to me that I'd been wanting a better jacket/coat to wear to hockey games. You don't always need something heavy (at least around here) but it is cool at the rink; you don't want anything long and bulky when you're sitting either, and having your arms free is not the end of the world either since most of the time you are just sitting, and maybe eating. A cape might be just the ticket.
