Thanks Diana! Shows how much I know about knitting/crochet when I can't differentiate between them. The tutorial is really helpful, it's good to see pictures of the steps. I'm going to see if I can find some yarn or thick thread that matches.

Astrid, this actually looks like crochet to me, but you can seam it regardless of whether it is knit or crochet using mattress stitch. Basically you look for the horizontal bars between stitches and sew the pieces together by going under those bars. Here is a good visual tutorial (the first method in the link):
http://www.aestheticnest.com/2.....-work.html

Ideally you should use matching yarn although mattress stitch is pretty unobtrusive if done right. Thick thread in a matching color works too.

I have this handmade scarf (it was a gift I got a few years ago) that I never wear because I don't know how to tie it so that it looks good. Now I thought I could sew the ends together to create an infinity scarf that is much easier to style. I'm clueless about knitting myself - how do I sew the ends together so that it's durable and looks good? Do I need yarn that is similar to the yarn of the scarf? Any other tips?

Thanks in advance!
