The fabric has some spandex in it, and is a heavier, very structured material. We went to Express today and both tried on the same jacket--a structured knit notched collar "Chanel" like jacket. We both liked it because it fit our shoulders, but was fitted around the waist as well (something we both have issues with in a lot of blazers). And the knit fabric made it easy to scrunch up the arms, which is something I like to do. The sleeves are very fitted as well, which is something I prefer.
