Most of the sales people I talked to seemed to prefer the quartz but one acquaintance who has had hers for only a year regrets the choice as hers has chips and she is very careful with it. We went with the granite because we lotoked at a couple of places where the seller had used granite and quartz in their showroom, and the granite seemed to have held up better. I don't know if there's much difference between the manufactured quartz vs. natural quartz, though. Also, to be honest, the slab of granite we liked was available more quickly!</p> <p>The glass tiles are gorgeous. I have yet to see whether they are high maintenance. But it is fun seeing how all our choices are working out in real life. I LOVE that we got a slideout garbage/recycle cabinet - makes it so easy to just clear stuff into the trash. And we have these "kick drawers" that use the space at the very bottom of the floor cabinets for flat items. Very nice.</p> <p>I have been debating between granite and quartz for the counters and am interested in the reasoning for you choice.
