Im late Elly but just wanted to say given the type of job, environment and dress code, pink should be appropriate. I agree with Modgrl. You will stand out by wearing a strong and unexpected color but in an appropriate way. Best of luck.

Thank you all for your help-- with a lot of deliberation and advice taken, I ordered the pink. Now it just has to get here! Hurry up and wait, I swear.

The pink shirt isn't that purple-y odd color IRL. It is a deep hot pink, which surprisingly looks pretty good on me (it is one of the only colors I borrow from the deep winter palette successfully, I have dress that color). The mid-tone blues just aren't as flattering, and the dark blue is very pretty, but I have a t-shirt in a similar shade and the lack of contrast between it and the black seems to cry for more accessories and completer pieces, which I don't have in the right color palette. I do have a couple of scarves I could probably wear with the pink in a pinch. I like both the yellow and the tangerine, but worry they will be super traffic site harsh against black.

If I end up liking the shirt after a couple of washes, I will probably be back for more. I ordered one previously (in the wrong size!) but was pleasantly surprised at the fabric quality/lack of wrinkles. Also, the cut is good, with long sleeves and a fairly narrow waist and ample bust room compared to other brands I've tried. I will definitely wear it with only the top button undone. Bella, I did try the express shirts, but found they didn't fit right in the shoulders/arms/bust (when one fit the other two were small or huge).

I was glad to hear that so many ladies felt that it was a plus to express my personality and creativity with interview attire. Of course, I don't want to take attention away from what I say, but I think "neat and appropriate, but memorable/different" would be in my favor, since I am not the typical "ideal" hire for the position based on experience alone, but am uniquely well-qualified.

I vote pink, especially if you suit that colour and it compliments your personality. I once took a bright pink handbag for a job interview at a very conservative workplace and was complimented on it by all interviewers. When I got the job, my boss said that it told them a lot about my self confidence and that I wasn't faking my answers to some questions. You have to be memorable at an interview and one way to do that is through clothing choice.

Hi
for what you are saying you share my colouring.I would choose the deeper blue of the two simply because it would look better on me.
If you do have the same color of eyes/hair/skin I can try to post pictures of both combination on me.

I haven't read the other comments but I will just say that hot pink is memorable. We had a series of great candidates in my office and we hired the one who was wearing a hot pink jacket. It's been 5 years and I still remember her interview jacket. I say go for it as long as the rest of your outfit is conservative and appropriate for the type of job.

I'm a soft autumn, and I would look absolutely sick in the hot pink and not my best in either of the blues. Are these flattering colors on you? Would you consider the yellow?

For a museum job, I would guess that bold colors and even unusual color combos would be acceptable, and may actually reflect well on you.

I think pink, if it's covered mostly with black, and with suitable classic accessories, is just fine. I'd button it up more than the VS lady. It's nice to have something in an outfit that "pops."

I work in entertainment, FWIW. I think a well-fitting blouse in a pretty color is an excellnt thing to own.

Did you try the Express shirts? they are very flattering and I like them.
http://www.express.com/essenti.....pro#jsLink
French blue would be my choice.
They are always running some kind of promotion, too.
If you decide to go with express, definitely order expedited shipping, their regular shipping is by Fedex and sucks!

I'm a bit worried about the deeper blue with black, but It is a little lighter than "my blue" and I don't usually wear light or mid tone.

Personally, I'd go for the bright orange, but that might be a little much. LOL

The colors are spread out between the two links.

Not super conservative-- it is a job at a museum, not interacting with the public, jeans-and-blouse smart casual dress code. Not sure what it the best with the black/for the interview/with my coloring. I'm a deep autumn.

I think it depends on the job and the shade of pink. Any shade of blue should be appropriate for almost any job.

(How awful is it that pink has so much stigma?! It's all completely subjective too... check out this post about the color pink, especially the vintage advice column about half way down the page: http://thesocietypages.org/soc.....emininity/)

This is probably my last chance to find a button-up that will button as the job I applied for interviews soon.

I am trying to order one, and can't decide on the color. Both my pants and skirt are black.

I probably won't have a jacket in time, as I still am struggling to find one that fits.

I know that white is probably the obvious choice, but I worry about it being a little sheer and also am trying to avoid the "waiter" look. Same with plain black.

I look dreadful in pastels, and the other two options are two shades of mid-tone blue.

And a rich deep pink.

What do you all think?
