I agree with A. It's very hard to get a nice flowing fit at waist, hip and thigh for my curvy shape with most jeans called skinny. Though, I'm willing to look harder! So the straight fit is not just about calf fit but often is cut with just a bit more ease elsewhere. So the. The upper fit is flattering but tucking is more of a challenge, it appears.

I haven't tried the suspender but I can answer why I prefer a straight leg to a skinny. It is because the cut of jean is more flattering than skinnies for me, as a curvy girl.

I have a pair of these "suspenders" and I love them! They have little clips that remind me of mitten clips. They keep my pant legs tucked neatly in my boots all day.

I bought a pair of those "suspenders" when I first started trying the skinny tucked into a boot (last year). I was also getting knee-bunching which bugged me and I was hoping the suspenders would solve that issue. They ended up being sort of a hassle and the metal clip against my ankle bone was uncomfortable. I ended up using the sock method that QM describes. Plus, I found that leans/jeggings worked better than that particular pair of skinny jeans I was trying to tuck in.

I also ended up getting skinnies (aka leans or jeggings) for tucking into boots. Even straight legs had too much fussing for me to get a smooth look into the boot.

If the skinnies are long enough to bunch a little around the ankle, won't they be too long for use with an under-the-foot strap? Any extra length in my skinnies/leans/jeggings ends up around my knee - from sitting and bending and my larger calves don't let the pant fabric fall back down.

I do like QM...I have pairs of "no sag" trouser socks from Nordies that are very snug. I basically get the pant all pleated smoothly and then pull the sock over the pant. I sometimes have to fold the sock down at the top so it doesn't show. But, in general I do prefer skinnies for tucking!

Thanks everyone for your insight. I'm sorry for my delayed response. The last few days have been hectic! The little "suspenders" I saw were at the Blues Jean Bar and are designed to keep jeans tucked in, so I doubt they'd damage the jeans. On the other hand, even though I loved my stirrup pants back in the day, I'm not sure I really want something underneath my foot as many of you mentioned. I don't think they'd cause too much bulk around my ankle. The boots I wear most often are suede riding boots with zippers.

I may have to get a pair of skinnies for my boots!

Maya, your response cracked me up. I can tell you think I'm insane and may be wearing absolutely awful jeans and boots. The jeans are very narrow at the ankle, Hudson straight legs, and the boots have zippers on the inner part of the ankle, so I can pull the jeans down that way. All in all, it's a pain!

Yes, its made for waders actually, but many women (myself included) think they are perfect for keeping any pants tucked into boots nicely...the ankle grabbers are made of all soft stretchy material with velcro at both ends so it wraps easily...no clips of any kind involved. They are thin enough to easily fit inside boots- not adding any noticeable bulk.....

I get you, Maya. I don't think straight leg jeans should be too snug-fitting at the calves. That's what skinnies are for! Which is exactly why I'm designing some elastic stirrup contraptions that button on the inside of the skinnies. To keep them tucked into my boots where they belong.

I don't understand the question? Why do you prefer the look of straight legs for tucking? I can understand preferring them untucked, but for tucking into jeans, I wouldn't bother trying to get straight legs to work. I am actually a bit mystified as to how you even mange to get them to tuck. For me there is just too much material to fit into a well-fitting pair of boots. Unless I wore my boots too loose, there would be no way I could tuck a pair of straight leg jeans in. Are you talking about fitted boots or slouchy boots?

I would just get a pair of denim leggings or skinnies and keep them for tucking instead.

Dana, you could reserve your skinny jeans JUST for tucking. It works the best for sure. No riding up.

Personally, I do not like the feel of the suspender under my foot. But you might not be as fussy.

Dana, right now I'm designing elastic 'stirrups' that button onto the INSIDE of my skinny jeans so I can wear them tucked in to boots without them riding up. I don't really like the elastic with suspender-like clips - I think the clip 'teeth' would mark and eventually damage your jeans. And seems like they would be uncomfortably bulky against your ankles.

Is this for wearing with boots? I think the little suspenders sound like a great idea. My husband had something like that to keep his shirt tucked in when he was in the Marines.

I cant stand having anything under the soles of my feet, so I got some 'ankle grabbers' with thin stretch material and velcro straps put out by Avery for around $8...works like a charm!.

I like the look of straight leg jeans a bit better than a skinny jean. Although they're pretty narrow at the bottom, they ride up all day, bunching around my knees.

I stopped into a specialty denim shop where they sell little suspenders that attach to the bottoms of your jean leg and go under your foot like a stirrup. Has anyone tried these?

Any other ideas for keeping them tucked in?
