If you find it too matronly, keep away from blouses, try something more t-shirty. (Perhaps a t-shirt that has a atypical collar?) And maybe a high heeled shoe that's not very delicate? Or a shoe in a strong colour that picks up some of the colour in the skirt, but doesn't quite "blend".
