I haven't responded because I have a poison eye for white jeans to a degree. I did buy the Long & Leans which had a more forgiving fit. These look a little tight to me, and that seems to be the white jeans problem - they look tight even when they aren't! Totally share your frustration.

Glad you decided against them Sveta. I wear looser pants, too loose in fact, so am very biast to tight. I don't think these were as flattering as all the other pants you wear. Jonesy had a great suggestion. Good luck with your Mom and the search.

I was very frustrated with my search for white jeans, too. I definitely think mine looked tighter in the photos than in real life, though I was fine with more of a jegging look, since I wanted to wear them with tunics/mini dresses. Sorry these didn't work for you, but hopefully the new spring season will bring more options to try.

Sveta, this is the picture I'm going to take to my tailor for my white bootcuts (on Jessica from the What I Wore blog). I love how these fit somewhat loosely through the thighs and calves, though they still look somewhat streamlined. Straight legs are such a nice middle ground between skinnies and bootcuts, IMO.

Thanks everybody for your help. The first thing I did this morning is to get my Paige bootcuts and comapare with these jeans. The white jeans are a bit wider in the waist and hip but about 2/3 of an inch smaller in the thigh area. I think this is where my problem lies!
They are going back, I just don't feel that comfortable with the back view on these ones - and I cannot size up because 32 is the biggest size in Paige brand!
Jonesy, this is a great idea to buy bootcuts and alter them to straight legs. That would definitely solve the length problem for me. I need to consult with my mom if she can do this - thanks for the tip!

To my eye, they do look too tight through the hips and thighs. I think that's why I seem to recall Angie saying that sizing up with white denim is usually the way to go--the lighter color fabric seems to highlight fit issues, and usually it seems as if they are made out of lightweight fabric too--a fit double whammy! I'm not sure you can go by being able to get your hand in them as an indicator of fit, since any sort of stretch or give in the fabric will allow you to do that, no matter how tight they might look.

This is just my personal opinion, of course! I have a bit of a "poison eye" when it comes to pants fitting too snugly, and you certain have a range of opinions on this thread. What do *you* think, and how do *you* feel in them? You are the ultimate judge :).

You might consider finding a pair of bootcuts, then having your mom tailor them into straight legs. That way, you might be able to get a better fit for your bod, and you don't need the 36" inseam, most likely. I have a pair of white bootcuts awaiting that very thing with my tailor, since I am not into bootcuts right now.

I vote to keep looking. The fit is a bit ghetto, which is a style my goddaughter loves, but I'm not keen on. I read something about wrinkling and bunching once. I think actually that they could be long in the rise, which makes for the wrinkling that might give the impression of tightness.

Sveta, if you are open to other cuts in white jeans, then try Gap Long & Leans. I have them in white, and love them. The only thing you'll probably need to do is have the waist taken in, which I have to do routinely on all my jeans purchases.

I don't know if the L&Ls are available in white right now, but I'm sure they will be around February in preparation for spring.

I think they look fine. Photos of white jeans are often deceptive. I have several pairs of Paige straight leg jeans and they stretch and stretch. My white jeans come from BR and they stretch out as I wear them. They do look good with a longer top.

Do they look okay to you when you look in the mirror? I've noticed a definite size discrepancy between photos and what I see in the mirror while wearing light colors on the bottom.

Sveta, they look pretty tight. Do you think they may loosen up more? I second Parsley's idea of showing them worn with a longer top like you would style them. They will probably look great with one of your tunic length tops.

You know, Sveta, maybe you should take a picture of the jeans with the sort of top you plan to wear with them. It could very well be that if that's what you had shown us everybody would think they look fine.

I agree that the top part of the jeans doesn't look perfect. But if it feels OK and will never show, then maybe they really will work.

But I think Angie must have magic dirt-repelling properties. She merely smiles and the dirt disintegrates the way it is supposed to do in the washing machine!

I know you are going to look so great in your jeans, Sveta.

If I am not mistaken, morethanbeige had a white jeans thread a while ago, and she got some really great ones. And I believe she is someone with pear tendencies? But I am not sure how tall she is. And I think maybe she got bootcuts, which would defeat the purpose here. Hmmm.

Suz, we have our portion of wet in the spring - but there are sunny days too, a lot, especially in May. That was one of the reason I wanted straight leg white jeans because even if it is wet outside you are less likely to wet them than bootcuts.
If Angie can wear her white jeans in rainy Seattle spring you can too in Kingston! Anyway I wash my white jeans after 1 or 2 wears....

I think your coats will look super with the jeans, Sveta! And I also think maybe you are blessed with sunnier, drier springs than we are, by the lake! It is so dirty and wet here in spring that I might get three chances to wear white jeans. Could tuck them into boots, I suppose, if I had some lighter coloured boots. But that will be a goal for another year! I have always loved the crisp look of white jeans, just figured I would have to live another life to enjoy them.

Kim and Anna, thanks. I think it would be easier to fit white bootcuts as they are usually a bit roomier in the thigh. However I need 36 in. in bootcuts for PPL - tough luck finding them.
Suz, I want to wear white jeans in the spring as soon as I part with my puffer. As my coats and trenches are bright or light they should look fine with the white jeans...if I ever find them!
Oh, and this was the largest size on Zappos so I cannot size up at all.

Tough tough tough call. If you order the size up to compare, how much extra cost are you going to run into for shipping/duties/ etc? Because if you are going to wear them under tunics (essentially) anyway, and if they are comfortable, then maybe a slight appearance of "too tight" in those areas does not matter.

Also, may I say that once you do decide on your perfect white jeans and start to wear them, I am going to be taking fashion notes, because I have always wondered when one could comfortably wear white jeans in our climate! When it is warm enough for white, it is always too warm for jeans! But knowing you, I am sure you have some excellent thoughts up your sleeve for these trousers!

I have been looking for white jeans for the second year now. At last I have risked it and ordered white straight leg
Hidden Hills
Paige jeans from Zappos. I have received them today and here they are for your judgment.
They felt tight in the beginning but they loosened up a bit after 0.5 hour of wear. As you can see even though they are straight legs they fit me like skinnies (thanks, thighs and calves! :-()
I am still struggling with how they should fit. If I go a size up they will be too loose in the hips and tummy. I can easily fit my hand inside along hips and thighs so they are not tight. Are they too tight looking? I would not tuck into them at all: I plan to wear crotch length tops and tunics with them in case I keep them.
For comparison here are my Hidden Hills bootcuts. I think the fabric on the bootcuts is thicker and a fit may be a bit looser in the thigh - or maybe it just seems so because of the white color...
So what do you say - good enough to keep or return and keep looking?
Thanks!
BTW, these are Clarks booties from Angie`s store. Unfortunately they are going back: they are not padded enough for this heel height and the balls of my feet began to feel it after 0.5 hour off wearing then in the house.
