Sounds like this particular coat is really good quality, and despite being more expensive - will be well worth the expense. Much better to get it right, than to suffer through umpteen iterations of 'not quite right'. You look fabulous in your new blue puffer, and the best part is that it's very well-made, with lots of little extra quality features.
