I don't think #1 is frumpy, but if you want more structure, Mandipa's idea is a good one. Love it with the booties and necklace. The gray doesn't "sing" against your skin like the purple, but it's a good neutral, and I like the low contrast with a little edge in the booties -- it seems to suit you.
