I think they are both great - I have a slight preference for #2, though. You look fabulous in both of them - I like the prints and colours.

I feel your pain re: dresses - I tried on so many last summer ... and didn't buy one.

Those are lovely dresses! I think both will make nice additions to your wardrobe! I could see dressing them up with a blazer or making them more casual with a cropped denim jacket. Both of these would look great with boots too : )

I too prefer #2 -- I think the color and style are really great on you -- and think it might work better for you under sweaters or those elusive blazers.

However, would love to hear how your experiments with both turn out. Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

Angie, you wouldn't believe how hard it has been to find a dress with long sleeves. You'd think I lived in Florida. Luckily, proper winter only lasts about 2 months here so one can make do with sweaters and blazers.

Suz, I took advantage of holiday sales and got the first dress super cheap (<$20) and one for a good deal so money wasn't really an issue. I just want to be done with buying things I'm not happy with in the end.

rae, I've been known to stock up on items once I find something I really like (to the point of feeling a bit sheepish and ridiculous).

modgrl, next step is trying the dresses on with sweaters and stuff. Still lacking in the blazer department. Need to experiment this weekend.

Amy & Janet: thanks!

I think they both look great -- I have a slight preference for the cut of #1 but I love the colors in #2.

I like the second one better than the first. Sleeves would be nice for winter, or how about a structured blazer on top?

I feel the opposite of Suz - when I have that hard a time finding an item, I want to get at least two... especially if they are as nice as those dresses. I LOVE those prints!!

Lovely dresses, and YAY for pics!!

My only caution would be that they are quite similar in style and if you are on a budget you might want to get one of these and keep trying with others for a different look. But it would be difficult to choose between them.

Both dresses are fab!! Flattering for sure, and comfy to boot. GREAT colours and good hem lemgth.

I'd have preferred the dresses to be sleeveless or with elbow sleeves, but the grown-on sleeves are not a deal breaker.

So nice to see you post, wannabe

So...I've been looking for a dress or two for weeks now, and have finally found some (maybe) passable choices. However, I don't want to keep them if they're just good enough. I've tried on so many dresses and had such a high rejection rate that I think I've lost the ability to judge the fit in an impartial manner. What do you think?

#1 Knot-front peacock print dress

#2 Surplice splattery-pattern print dress

Sorry about the bad lighting but this was the best I could do at the time.
