I don't think they are dated, but it's clear you don't enjoy them, so why not pass them on to someone who will and relieve yourself of that burden?

Hi Laura

That's not the problem here. I actually love classic dressy outfits and wear them every chance I get. Yes, I have fewer opportunities because I work from home now, but it's still the style I prefer. When everyone is dressed in casuals on weekends, I get all dressed up (more on that in a different thread because I could go on and on). So I do own a lot of pumps and a lot of peep toes and most of them are more appropriate for office wear. I still love them. These two I just didn't. I think my style is dressy minimalistic. I love plainer things...clothes with subtle details and same for shoes. I think it was the pattern on these shoes that made them 'too much' for me.

But thanks for your input. It's started another chain of thoughts in my head.

I wonder if the issue isn't that they're dated, more that they're dressy? I mean, they do have a prim, twee vibe to them which would work well with typical office wear, pencil skirts and blazers and stuff. But you work at home, right? So presumably you don't need that kind of outfit very often, and perhaps don't feel yourself in them. I think letting them go, if you don't feel right in them and don't need them for practical reasons, is a good decision.

I love this Deborah. It's beautiful.

You're right. I do feel like 'I have to like them' but do not actually like them at all. Both are not in sync with the style statement I want to make and are absolutely not exciting.

I know of a good home for them. I'm friends with a lady who lives with daughters my age and they love to take my clothes, bags and shoes. This family is very charitable and I work with the lady to educate underprivileged kids and rescue dogs off the streets. I think they will do justice to these.

Astrid, it's so sweet of you to mention that it might be wasteful to give away these shoes and find replacements when I've never worn them. But I already have low heeled brown pumps that I love and a pair of cobalt blue peep toes that I love. These two sit in my shoe collection only because I feel pressured to like them, they don't fit a wardrobe hole for me.

I will never buy anything similar to me. I assessed my shoe collection and found that I'm not drawn to patterns in footwear (although I do have a soft floral pattern wedge sandal in pink that I like). I like to keep patterns only on my top, never bottom. I much prefer solid color shoes or those with tonal detailing and croc/snakeskin finish. Or, I like animal prints. But while I love polka dots and checks in clothes, they are not working for me in shoes.

Thank you so much for your help Astrid and Deb. I'll pack these off and drop them at my friends place today evening. I already feel better

It definitely helps to see them as part of an outfit. Maneera how do you feel about them looking a the pics? You said you feel they do look dated and that the spotted ones are too retro for your style. I say send them off to a good home. To me it is clear you are not loving either pair. I love the quote below... I don't think either of these pairs of shoes is exciting to you. I sense hanging on to them is 'burdensome" to you.

I think it depends on whether you have enough alternatives? If you haven't worn them at all that should tell you something. But I think it would be sad to let these go unworn just to replace them with something similar in the near future. If you need little cute heels and don't have other ones you like better I would keep them, just in case. Or maybe you prefer one of them over the other?

Yesterday I shared photos of two pairs of shoes I've had in my closet for about 3-5 years but never worn. They are low heeled, they are comfortable. But for some reason, I just didn't wear them. M

I got mixed reviews from you guys when I asked if they looked dated. Today I decided to test-drive them and I'm sharing the photos.

In my opinion, they do look dated. In theory they might not be --- with pointy toes and low heel, but the pattern on them just doesn't work for me. It's got a retro vibe and not in a good way.

But I thought I'd still see what you all have to say. Maybe I'm missing something, right?! So, should I keep them or purge them? I've never worn either pair at all.
