Thanks a lot!

These are not linen. They are a soft cotton with lots of drape.

Beth Ann is absolutely right. These swish around when I walk --- they have the vibe of a maxi skirt. So yes, they don't photograph well because they look better in person.

I've decided to keep them and play around with the top half. Bring in more structure and see how the silhouette turns out with a fitted top and the drapey bottom. I do love the idea of palazzo pants with a tucked in top in theory...it's very casual and feminine with wedged heel sandal and a cute bag. And as Suz says, they are better than jeans for a hot humid day.

Thanks a lot everyone!

I like palazzo pants but I am not sure about the fabric here. It looks like linen? I think linen can be a little stiff for this style. I would prefer them to be more drapey. I think Rubygirl posted some nice ones recently. So I would lean towards purging. If you do decide to keep, I would definitely experiment with different tops. A great excuse to give Diane's elastic trick a try!

I like them Maneera, I agree with the other advice. I like the combination as shown but can imagine a few others too.

Lovely with a wedge heel or flat beaded sandals on a hot summer night.

I actually really like them on you, and if I lived in your climate I am pretty sure I would want to keep at least one pair. There are times when a girl doesn't want to bare her legs but still needs to feel cool! I vote try to style them a few ways and see if they can still earn their place.

I have slouchy wideleg trousers that I wear which look similar to palazzo pants, and I almost never wear a fitted top half with them. It's definitely doable, the key is getting enough structure elsewhere in the outfit. Semi-tucking a fluid top along with exposed arms can be enough structure for pants like these. If it's cooler out a tailored jacket and pointy shoes can also add some good structure. And lastly, tucking a top in would also create some structure. Your pair here looks more like trousers rather than the stretchy jersey type, so I vote keep and play around with them. All else fails, if you like the material but not the cut, you can always taper the hems or add a knit cuff for more of a jogger look; or turn to culottes as Beth Ann suggested.

I have a soft spot for palazzo pants too, although none have made their way into my closet yet! I think it was wise to keep your favorite pair -- FWIW, I don't think wide legs photograph very well. It's the movement that makes them special and I find that drape and swish very elegant and easy.

You could always crop them into a pair of trending culottes. The added skin from your legs would add more structure and definition. Just another option!

I think it was a good idea to purge the rest of the pants...being curvy and short too, I have the same issue. These ones I'm on the fence about - i do like that they have a linen, breezy look about them...

As others have mentioned, i think you need some structure and waist definition to make these work: perhaps try belting a top a little higher on the waist? And keep the sleeves fairly fitted, to tone down volume and introduce structure.

keep us posted!

Thanks Carter. Seems like the general consensus is that they do look good. I'll find ways to style them better. It's just one pair so they aren't taking all that much space. Thanks for your inputs

I like them a lot on you, with or without waist definition. I don't really see volume over volume here. It just looks great to me. If you're really "over them" though, no sense in letting them take up space.

I have seen ensembles with palazzos on several fashion blogs. I'll search for Angie's suggestions later tonight. But I do like the idea of wearing them with a fitted tshirt that skims the top and stops at the waistband ( cropped fit). I'll have to search for such a tee as I'm not a fan of cropped lengths, but I'm sure I'll find something. Or I'll try Diane's rubberband idea and create drape on a tshirt like she did with her culottes. I think that might work.

Thanks for your inputs. Diane, I'll try to wear them with more tops and click photos in the coming weeks.

Sterling, yes the only reason I kept them was because they are comfortable in hot and humid weather when you have to wear pants but feel too hot in denims.

Unfrumped, I get your point here. I'll try to wear them with a tshirt again that fits like my peplum so that waist gets some definition.

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, first, I love the idea because I like pants outfits even for dressy. My wearing them is more limited by feeling whether they are on trend or fm finding my perfect " classic" pair.
If you really like the pants, I think you need a different too & be willing to define the waist even if slightly, or fm have high rise pants with a boxy cropped top. The former might be eaimsier. Not super fitted, but the idea of a T top that gently fits. You know how your peplum was nicely tailored so it worked with bust but gave some shape definition? That kind of fit, in a non- peplum , would balance the volume of the pants.
I usually have to ponder how much trouble I want to go to or whether I've got occasions I want to create outfit/ capsule for.

Hmm, tricky. As it's the first time I've seen you in them, my first though was that I rather like them and I don't find the volume too OTT,. However...you are obviously not feeling the love and you are used to seeing them on yourself more often. Another thought I had was that I like the width at the bottom and I bet you would look fab in some quite flared boot cut jeans that fit closer through the thigh, so perhaps that is to your point of not enjoying the volume higher up.

Oh, boy I think I'm rambling now. I am a tad on the fence and I kind of think I'd like to see a couple more tops with them.

Sometimes in summer weather, a pair of palazzos can be fabulous. They might be easier to wear with a more fitted tee shirt (so not volume over volume, which can swamp a tinier body). I would suggest keeping them through August and seeing if you wear them. If not, then donate.

During my last closet purge, I gave away all my palazzo pants but this pair. I wore palazzos a lot last summer and I think I'm kind of 'over' them. I don't think they do any wonders for my body as I'm short (5'4"), curvy, and my hips are slimmer than my upper body. I usually style them with short tops with elasticated hems - so it's kind of volume on volume.

I've worn these today to show them to all of you. What do you think? Should I purge these as well?
