Last summer I needed a shoe to wear to Vegas that could handle the heat and the walking around, and smart ladies here suggested Ecco Bouillon sandals. I got a pair and they worked great. They still looked like gear to me. But they worked for walking and hiking and were just slightly less gearish...I think that's what your Tevas are....a similar type of thing. I don't wear mine as regular shoes, but I do wear them when I want to do a lot of walking yet don't want to look completely ...well....you know. Originally I had hoped to get a pair of shoes that would actually be fashionable (or fit with my overall style, at least) but this was the best I could do. I think they make a lot of great looks, they tend to look gearish, but I think it's not entirely avoidable.
