I agree with Angie.. you don't need to add color. I think there is nothing more chic as a wardrobe of neutrals (specially dark ones). But if you want, you have always, scarfs, necklaces, bracelets, shoes, belts.

Looking good Kathleen. Keep up the good work. I love your use of the belt. I am just learning the importance of belts. I guess I was hung up on not having any cute ones so I finally got some and now cannot wait to experiment with them. You are well on your way with your belting journey. Belts look good on you.
I love your blue outfit. I like your bit of color theory too.

Hey Angie,

I guess that I am just trying to do something different than from what I normally do ... LOL. I have begun to add colour with my shoes (i.e. a red pair, gold pair, an interesting beige/neutral pattern pair - that is all the coloured-type ones I have for now).

Perhaps, I am just the type of person who likes subtle pops of colour in the wardrobe i.e. a top, a skirt, a pair of shoes (I especially like this one), or jewelry (especially like this one too).

I am looking into getting a pair of turquoise, a pair of yellow, and a pair of purple shoes (adding them as I go along - I am on a tight budget). Also, I have always wanted a yellow and a purple pencil skirt.

I guess I enjoy using colour just subtley. But, the odd thing about that is I have no problem wearing a dress that is a nice colour (i.e. peach, floral print). Weird, huh?

Thanks, as always, you ROCK!

Kathleen, you don’t need to add colour to your wardrobe if you don’t want to. You can sport a stylish neutral look. Why do you want to add colour if you are adverse to it?

Hey guys,

Here is what I wore today.

http://artistic-java.blogspot......-blue.html

I could use your help on some other issues though.

http://artistic-java.blogspot......r-ylf.html

In the two photos on the post labeled "For YLF", you can see that I experimented with tucking in the button down in to the pencil skirt, and adding a meidum-width belt. I am trying to experiment with my three belts that I have, so that I can add them to my outfits to give it a little bit of structure.

However, looking through my wardrobe makes me a little nervous.

I have five full suits (two pant-suits and three skirt-suits), six button downs (3/4 sleeve baby blue, 3/4 sleeve blue/silver stripe, long sleeve medium blue, long sleeve black & white stripe, 3/4 sleeve brown fitted collared pullover with ruching at the very center of the breast bone down to the natural waist, long sleeve floral with beige background), long sleeve crewnecks/boatnecks in medium hunter green, black, and mauve, short sleeve v-neck shirt in jade green and mauvish/dark pink<depends on the lighting) with side ruching, carribean blue two-finger strapped v-neck tank, floral on white tank, black halter top with small sequins at the breast, blue lace wide-strapped tank, black lace wide-strapped tank, ivory lace two-finger width strapped v-neck tank, strappy solid tanks in medium baby blue and red, strappy solid tanks with lace either at the breast or waist in white, black, light pink, red pencil skirt, brown pencil skirt, black sat</span>in pencil skirt, grey floral embelisshed skirt (hits a little above the knee when standing), peach cocktail dress, black 'Audrey Hepburn' style dress, black strappy tie-back dress with black/gold rope straps, floral cross-strapped dress with maroon background, lace shrug, gold cropped short sleeve jacket (again, very 'Audrey Hepburn'-era), black patterened cropped 3/4 sleeve jacket with 'Jackie O' type collar, white A-line skirt with silver threaded floral design, white A-line skirt with ivory embellished ribbon at hem, red heels, tan strappy heels, beige peep toes, beige/ivory peep toes, gold kittne heels, black kitten heelss, black, white , and navy checkered peacoat for winter, blue, white, grey tiny checkered scarf from Italy for winter, grey suede "dressy" gloves for winter, orange, green, white, tan etc. (tiny) braided scarf for winter).

Now, I believe that is everything in my closet i.e. all of the pieces of clothing, shoes & winter wear I own.

As you can see, I do not have vast amount of colour in my wardrobe. Perhaps, it is, because I have always had an aversion to colour, as it makes you stand out more. However, I do have beautiful jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets) that have loads of colour in them, and I always wear at least one piece of jewelry everyday.

Now, I am trying to add colour (little by little), but for some reason have an aversion to it and so I tend to play it safe (with my clothing I play it safe, my jewelry is a whole different story!).

Any suggestions for adding colour to my wardrobe, mixing my current pieces together to make new outfits, tucking my button downs into pants/skirts/jeans and wearing belts with them?
Thanks ahead a time for the suggestions.

p.s. Sorry for such a long post.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's fashion.</span></p>
