I had the best luck by heating the leather with a hairdryer before putting on multiple thick rubber bands, holding the shaft of the boot scrunched almost flat against the sole.

Oh thanks for the reply Karin. I tried to slouch mine but I think the leather is too high quality and sturdy (yes, leather CAN be too high quality apparently). Yours look great though. I guess it's hit or miss.

Hello, the way I broke in my combat boots (GI, so those babies have some thick, tough leather on 'em) was with leather conditioner/softener. I imagine that it might help soften up thinner leathers even more, allowing them to drape and slouch -- as long as the shaft is wide enough around the calf.

Tricia, I would think it could work with those boots! Again, I'm by no means any expert, so I hope other people will chime in and say what they think!

No worries Tricia, of course you can join in! When I bought the boots they were quite "stiff", they looked like this: http://www.faith.co.uk/black-r.....rod298700/. So, a style like that I could make a bit slouchy, like this: http://i646.photobucket.com/al.....CF0353.jpg. I wouldn't dare to say anything about other styles though, but I'm sure other people here could help out more! But, if you don't really like them the way they are now, it might be worth giving it a go anyway?

Sorry to butt in, but are you saying you can make boots that aren't "supposed" to be slouch boots into slouch boots? I have a black pair from Aerosoles that I bought pre-YLF, that I don't love now because I've realized they're a bit too loose in the calf and too saggy in the ankles. Turning them into slouch boots might solve my problem...

I'm so sorry, I've completely missed this post! I can tell you now though Maya, that I do think I was successful in my attempt! I've been wearing the boots nearly everyday since I bought them, and the slouch is just how I want it - and has remained like that! This is what they looked like after the slouching: http://i646.photobucket.com/al.....CF0353.jpg, and it's pretty much the same now, I guess they just look a bit more worn now :)

I didn't have any rubber bands at home, instead I just took two bits of string, sort of, slouched the boots and tied the bands from the heel up over the slouched "shaft". Does this make any sense?

Have you made any attempt, Maya?

Was wondering if you had any success doing the rubber band thing to make your boots slouch boots? I want to try that on my riding boots, which are really baggy around the ankles and not looking so fab anymore. If you were successful, how did you do it? Was it permanent?
