Well, *I* think it fits you really well! Not too boxy at all -- it curves nicely in at your waist. The shoulder seams are not bugging me.

What happens when you tuck it? Also what happens when you put a jacket or cardi over it? Those are usually the litmus test for me. If it's too big in the shoulders, then adding a layer will cause the top to bunch underneath.

Thanks, guys! Gah, button-downs are hard. The next size down is definitely too small - my arms feel like sausages and I run the risk of popping a snap if I take a deep breath But when I look at my blazers the shoulder seams are all a tiny bit inside my natural shoulder, like k described.

Why are button-downs harder than jackets anyway?

It's hard to see in your pics, but is the shirt too large in back? When I FINALLY found a chambray shirt that fit well in the shoulders, bustline, and collar (the most critical places), I decided it was a bit too boxy for my taste so I increased the back and front vertical darts which was an easy peasy fix.

I like it, but I'd second trying it on in the next size down. The shoulder seam should fall at the edge of your natural shoulder as Janet said. Personally, I also think it can be just a smidge inward if you are careful, but that's my personal preference, not professional fit advice!

I have very broad shoulders, so I often walk a close line with the shoulder seam. It's important that your deltoid not misshape the line of the sleeve. I'll wear my shirts with the shoulder just a tiny bit inset, but no visible bump where the shirt hits my deltoid.

On you, the shirt looks just a bit outside your shoulder, and I agree that a smaller size would probably fit more closely in the middle. My fit preference is to be close through the middle if possible. For work I wear fairly fitted shirts. However, for weekends, since I have two little kids, I always make sure that if I am moving around and stretching and bending, I won't pop any buttons, so weekend shirts are looser. Also, I know that some folks are starting to wear purposefully looser shirts as a more fashion forward look.

I looks like it fits, I think. My button downs tend to be a bit bigger in the waist. How does it feel? You may be able to get it altered or put in a couple of darts yourself.

It's hard to see clearly in the photos because the shirt is dark, but it looks a bit roomy. The shoulder seam should fall right at the edge of your natural shoulder.

I'm not sure if it's too large in the shoulder - that hadn't occurred to me - I was wondering if it was too large in the waist, too straight.

Where exactly is the shoulder seam supposed to be on your shoulder?

I dont wear the button-downs myself, but I really like this on you My only concern would be the shoulder looks a smidge big, but cant really tell. Does it feel large?

I've been looking for a denim/chambray shirt for a while. How is this one? Does it fit properly? I do not own a single button-down shirt and am not sure I understand how they are supposed to fit.

Tried on with a skirt, because I thought this would be useful for dressing things down.
