Jackie - I love your picks! I can't wait to see what works for you.

Hearing about all the border crossings makes me very anxious -- even more so than the $6,000 shopping cart haha. How incredibly hard you ladies work for your fashion! I admire you all. Truly.

Are the choices in Canada really that poor???? (DD and I were asking ourselves that yesterday, as we struggled to find parking at the Gap outlet -- we live near the Kittery ME outlets. We are crawling with Canadian tourists right now, and to us, the shopping just doesn't seem good enough to warrant the drive for them.) What's the deal with Canadian retail??

I wonder if you should all band together and begin a retail chain.

He-he Suz, did my T-J Maxx strategy last year rubbed off you? :-)
This is what I do when I have a pickup on the border. One time I took 4 pairs of jeans into the fitting room in TJ Maxx in my oversized tote - worked like a charm! Another time I tried on Theory blazer in the mall's restroom...funny times!
I was also eyeing that navy leather jacket- I hope you get it so I can get a review. I wonder how lightweight it is - I am really looking for a very light weight in my next leather jacket.
However if it does not work out for you - there is always Danier leather and its fabulous sales...

Jackie, we're crossborder boxers!!!! I do the same thing. Mine is in a LUMBER store. So I go try my stuff on in their bathroom. It should be pretty funny this time....I bought a TON of bras to try, and I'm a ridiculously small size, and it's very likely none of them will work on me....and the mirror there is this tiny over the sink mirror....

Actually, Mona and I have hatched a plan. We live in the same city -- we're going to drive to the box, pick up our stuff, and take it to a mall not far away, where we will hop into a TJ Maxx on the pretense that we need to try THEIR stuff on....and try on all this other stuff at the same time. I'm not sure how we will get it into the change rooms. That is a hurdle we have yet to overcome. But no doubt we will find a way. I DO have an extra-large tote, after all. :)

Phew. Okay. I have the cranberry suede Munros from last year. Love them. I agree that leather is smarter for your climate, although I have heard that even the suede was water resistant, and I've actually been in light rain with mine to no ill effect.

Love your new bag. I am a sucker for simple bags like that. It will look great with your Camper sandals.

The athletic wear is a no brainer. If it works for you, it's perfect. Ditto the Caslon top. Angie actually recommended it to me not long ago, and as you know, I'm another who doesn't do drape all that well. So if she thought it would work for me, it should work for you. (I ended up not ordering it because I want a different colour than they have now.)

I laughed out loud about your shopping cart. I think I spent $6,000 last year -- not in actual fact, but I ordered that much. I ended up sending almost all of it back, so it was okay. This year I was much more restrained. Which is not to say I didn't order. But hey...underwear doesn't count, right? If you only count the clothes, it was almost austerity.

I haven't yet joined but probably tripled my Nordie's wishlist this a.m. while going through Angie's lists. And your Caslon drapey cardigan (in olive) is one of them! Good job sticking to your list; it looks like you've got some great items coming which will get a lot of use.
I'm smiling at the idea of you trying stuff on in the P.O. box parking lot.

Diana - good point - I just don't want to walk in with a list miles and miles long....

kerry - I've read good reviews of the Munros here - I think it was last year that the cranberry suede ones made Angie's list. I don't have the Pettys but have a couple of other Sam Edelmans that I love. I have some DV sand coloured booties that are workhorses - if I could have duplicated I would have. I want a black pair that isn't too high, is comfy, and can be worn with skirts and pants. I have a higher volume foot - my right is on the wide side but I did not order the wides...these seem to have good reviews online....we'll see.

lisap - having a box has upped my online purchases for sure...good or bad thing?...it does make it a bit of a pain, and sometimes duties/taxes/gas makes it not worth it anyways. But I'd drive a hundred miles to get an Angie recommended pick :)

Sterling - wow! I don't feel so bad! If I lived in the states I'd totally be doing that. The problem comes when you love it all and can't decide what to send back....

abc - yes I've failed PPP quite a few times. I end up keeping things that just aren't perfect just b/c of the hassle to send back...getting better though :)

I haven't pulled the trigger yet either but my cart was in your range. Sigh. Burberry jackets at $600 a pop add up - wahaha

I'm trying to figure out wardrobe holes and needs vs pretty things and wants and esp things for an imaginary lifestyle. Sigh.

I think you did well thinking out your needs and sticking to those. As always I'm interested to hear how things work out.

Oh, and I identify with the parking lot statement. I live outside of the USA but come often and end up shopping. I'm trying hard to practice PPP but let's face it. It's hard to do when you feel the pressure us non-us residents feel. I'd be curious to hear how you handle this situation. I'm trying to be better but it's so hard.

I am so glad you posted that your cart was over $4,000 because I got up this morning and did the same thing. I knew I was going to buy some items from NAS, but there was so much to look through and, although I had a list, I also had a "that might be nice, list". I bought everything on my list and on my "that might be nice, list."

I made the decision to place orders by item type. So I started with black slacks, then I moved to jeans and skirts, then I searched for blouses and sweaters. I ended with athletic wear and shoes. In all I placed six separate orders.

I phoned my sister and told her that "I didn't think I would keep everything I bought (how could I, I way overspent), but that I hoped to keep one item within each of the six categories. So I hope when the dust settles, I have have one new pair of black slacks, one new pair of jeans, one or two new skirts, one or two new tops, etc.

I rationalized that buying and trying everything while it was on sale made a lot of sense. I fear that this was rationalization and I should have had a much firmer list. I didn't even buy a purse or bag (and that was my excuse for shopping this morning).

You gotta admit Nordstroms does have marketing genius.

Jackie - I'm with you with the shipping to Canada woes. This whole NAS thing is new to me - and it's a little overwhelming. Of course I'm familiar with Nordstrom, and apparently one is due to open in Winnipeg sometime next year, but for now I'm a little glad I can't really buy any of this easily or I would be in a lot of internet trouble I'm also not much of an on-line shopper, which I'm beginning to see after a short time on board here at YLF, may be something I need to do if I am truly going to get the clothes that work. The Zella line sounds intriguing but I'm not willing to order it sight unseen. Workout wear is of huge importance to me in terms of quality and design. And don't you wish we had access to Sam Edelman clothing? A navy leather jacket? Sign me up please!!! I'm enjoying reading all of these posts and looking at what Angie has picked, but it all seems a little out of reach for us Canadians unless you are happy shipping back and forth over the border. Anyways - have fun with your ordering! Looking forward to seeing pics of the jacket if you indeed buy it~

Great choices Jackie. You are lucky to have access to a box... even if it does make for funny choices in the parking lot.

The city shorts have been in my basket for a while, and I added a few things from the picks, but I think I am going to exercise restraint. Maybe. We'll see how I feel after a Friday night beer or two

Can you take another NAS post? I was so excited to read through Angie's post this morning - as I read I clicked to add things to my shopping cart. Well I thought I was exercising restraint until I realized the total was over $4,000. Hahaha grounds for divorce around here. So I cut cut cut and stuck to my wardrobe holes and needs. It's a bit of a pain for me since I'm in Canada, and I ship to a box across the border. I like to be pretty darn sure that things will work because if I get them home and change my mind I tend to 1) keep anyways, or 2) pay to ship back via Canada Post. Dumb. Otherwise I try on in the parking lot at the PO Box place, and I haven't made my best decisions there...

I think my first love is the Sam Edelman navy leather jacket, I haven't pulled the trigger on this yet, but might soon...if I miss it I miss it.

Here's what I ordered - we'll see how it works out. I'm going to try the Caslon knit cardigan in morel and black. I am not usually a fan of a lot of drape but I like that these can zip up...and I'm a sucker for soft...

Zella hoodie and city shorts. Realistically these fit my lifestyle and fill spots of things wearing out.

French Connection crossbody - I have a big hole for a black crossbody since my Coach workhorse wore out. This is simple and utilitarian - good price. Not leather but I don't mind. The red is more fun but I've had black on my list for soooo long.

Munro leather booties. I have black suede booties that I never wear and I've realized it's because they give me a flowerpot effect. I have fussy feet so hopefully these work. I might prefer suede but the leather is on sale - and probably better for our wetter weather.

I chopped all knits out of my shopping cart but they are my absolute fav. I'm trying to exercise restraint and just fill the holes for now. The rest is icing. We'll see if I pull the trigger again. It's so fun to watch the action.
