Staysfit - Do you have lighter or white pants by chance? Any wider legs with flowy style? With your fair coloring and hair, I think some lighter pant colors might work well.

How about wearing your scarves in different ways? Worn long like a vest, as a belt, or other unexpected ways? Also, what about incorporating a few more fluid pieces to experiment with, like a fluid, cascading vest (fit of sleeves won't be a concern so much with a vest), or a fluid cardigan.

psychedelicate's link to the Ethereal Dramatic had some great looks that might be good for you. Tilda Swinton seems like a great example...I did a search for Tilda Swinton Style on pinterest and came up with some nice matches.

Staysfit, I am setting aside the Kitchener/Kibbe aspects here, and just going with the outfits which look most flattering on you to my eye. Those are the ones with the soft white sweaters and the aqua scarves. Those colours really suit you, and the softly- draped scarves seem in harmony with the soft look you are after.

Anna, I love your feedback. I would love it if I could dress like Angie! I am 5'9" and very muscular so clothing doesn't fit me the same way it fits her. I believe she is shorter, and possibly more petite. I also am not looking to imitate anyone as much as to find what works for me in our freezing cold CNY weather and for my lifestyle. The wind chill here has been in the double digits below zero multiple days this month. I work with developmentally disabled children and emotionally disturbed children and I get down on the floor with them, or I may have to quickly get out of the way or dodge something that has been thrown in a classroom: the less I have on that they can grab at the better. I typically take off scarves and necklaces before working in certain classrooms. I would definitely call this silhouette my winter uniform. It's simple, comfortable, warm, and easy to move around in with the kind of work I do.

Most items I try on are too short in the torso, or the sleeves are too short. If I purchase a size larger, they get overly wide and a semi tuck does not create a nice fluid look like it does for Angie. The item just looks ridiculous and sacklike. I like your ideas, I just haven't been successful in putting them into action. My legs, particularly my thighs are very muscular, and both pairs of flares I tried on were too tapered in the thighs. I am still looking.

I have been searching for a jacket or blazer that fits properly for years! I have unusually long arms, and my legs are proprtionally short. We all have our fit issues, now you know mine. I have certainly mentioned them many times on this forum.

Rachy, don't worry! I'm just as confused as you! This has been the same conversation over three threads :-). They should all be consolidated! I like Architectural by the way, and am seriously thinking of adapting it. I looked at my wedding dress, very much an 80's look! The big dramatic shoulders, etc. I loved it, and it worked for me without looking ridiculous. (It was my wedding afterall :-). )

Kitchner is a completely new name to me! I also don't know anything about seasons in terms of colour, but I think you said something about light summer and pastels? With the exception of the pink, the colours seem very vivid to me and I like them on you. To be honest, I keep coming back to architectual for you, in the loftiest sense. I think you could do crazy 80s shoulders or Obi Wan robes, one being linear in a severe way and the other also linear in a soft way. I could also see you in a full skirt, 50s style, if the neckline didn't have any frou.

Wait, I forgot what we're supposed to be talking about...

Well then look at Angie's outfits for fluid fit. It doesn't overwhelm her. It's much more modern.

Anna, you are absolutely correct about my silhouettes. I am definitely more linear and angular than soft. Perhaps I should work to include more softness in my look, and that is one reason to consider all this. My curiosity about Kitchener's Ethereal/Angelic type started because I am a very definite and strong Kibbe Yang Dramatic. My personal style adjectives however include the words "soft" and "calm" which seem to contradict this. The words however seem to be a good fit. I read the Kibbe Dramatic description and it fit me fairly well except for my inclusion of soft elements, and a lack of high contrast. Psychedelicate suggested that Kitchener's Ethereal/angelic subtype was a form of Dramatic that included the soft element and it also includes the blended/low contrast I was looking for.

I am most definitely a mix of features and it helps me to think of myself in this way. I would be quickly overwhelmed by too much drape and softness. I need the structure and linear geometry that comes with most of the the Kibbe guidelines for a Dramatic subtype. At the same time, too much structure can look severe on me. I need the softness, movement, translucency/light of the Ethereal/Angelic in some part of my outfit.

I love all your examples. Thank you for taking the time to post them. I can see working to incorporate features like this into my wardrobe.

Well the only outlier I see is the one with the olive waterfall cardigan.

Otherwise your style is pretty consistent in my eye.
Except for the scarves I don't soft, drape, flowing lines. Your choice of skinnies and straight legs are pretty angular.

Meredith, I like the Angel, and I do see some resemblance! I have started to think about what soft/ethereal/angelic looks like without scarves. There were two Pinterest boards with good examples, but a lot of what Cate Blanchett wears falls into this category. Tilda S. Is a good example of a mix of dramatic and ethereal/angelic. It seems that there is some drape, some movement, some light or translucency in some part of what they wear. Maybe a feminine quality without being overly ruffled or romantic.

I think even the stiffer pieces look soft and work with an ethereal persona. Have you given any thought to what soft/ethereal/angelic looks like w/o scarves? I'd say the scarves are the dominant soft, gauzy, drifting elements in these looks, so will you tone down the soft element during summer or try to incorporate it in a new way?

I can't elaborate on the K or K systems, but I do agree this direction seems compatible with your color palette. Also, I know you're not out wielding swords (although I suppose in your work you are fighting for people's lives), but this angel reminds me of you with her hair, color scheme, and muscles. To me this is soft and dramatic.

Annagybe, my purpose in putting together the composite was actually to find similar features in my wardrobe. In this case, the feature I was seeking was the one I might consider "Soft" in my style adjectives, or perhaps if I am understanding Kitchener, what he might call Angelic/Ethereal.

psychedelicate pointed me towards Kitchener's Angelic/Ethereal type as I was pondering Kibbe Dramatic and how it might fit into my style. I think this may fit me even better than Kibbe Dramatic, but I think I am a combination of several elements.

Is anyone else familiar with his work or subtypes? There wasn't much on the internet. Some Pinterest boards, a few blog posts.....

I put together a composite of myself wearing various scarves or clothes with some drape; some of them have the soft drape element which I am going to say is as close to ethereal as I get right now, some are stiffer and less draped. It's interesting but I think I like the lighter ones better. My color palette is definitely compatible with this category. I may make a composite of some pictures looking at some of the Kibbe elements of line and geometry to see what I think as well.

One very notable aspect of these photo's is my changing hair color! I am definitely a hair chameleon! :-)
