Joe Fresh is very hit or miss for me - some items fit fantastically well, but in most of their items I am in between two sizes - just like with Zara's clothes. I do love their colors and styles. They have been available here in JCP and JCP.com for awhile now.

Joe Fresh is hit and miss for me. I've been shopping there since its beginning ( through the Loblaws supermarket). Pros: EXCELLENT prices. Variety of items. Usually a few 'trendy' pieces added to their usual classic, 'preppy' styling. Pleasant, non-pushy environment. Kids' clothes & nightwear are fantastic. Cons: Some items I've bought have a 'dowdy' fit, which just do the job, but are not particularly memorable. Too many 'not quite right' items that look great from afar but are duds once you get close.

Overrall, a decent place to check out in all seasons for casual clothing! Must add that one summer dress I bought there - a brown/cream batik-print cotton dress got lots of compliments, and I used it for three seasons.

Noooooo you can't have it. *grabby hands*

JK guys. I love me some Joe Fresh. It's got some super cute stuff, especially if you're into a streamlined and minimalist style. Also when my parents go grocery shopping I can hide in the clothing. Fun for everyone!

I think most Canadian should not be happy about this Joe+JCP thing. JOE could be next H&M but owned by Canadian. Instead of being patient to work their way up, it's under JCP for their easy way out to be popular in mass market. For sure it's much easier to have their foot in US market, but they are losing their original being unique Canadian idea. We were hoping that Joe can serve Canadian market first since they are using Being Canadian as their campaign flag. By the end their true dream is still in American pot. They don't even bother to open up as much stores as Canadian needs, but using Canadian flags to serve US market for dollars. The truth is that they are no special in US market style-wise, but exists as Canadian brand. All their styles are straight knock-off of J.Crew, GAP, and A&F etc., but of course with cheap price by stripping down the fabric, washing and treatment etc. Canadian market needs their products since they are sought of fresh in Canada, and easy for Canadian, but not in US. Very soon, American will see how comes their $45 J.crew tee was in JCP's Joe stand for $9 or $12, and the only difference is the color shade. Fashion has very fine line of copy right, or almost none, but still there is difference between knock-off and reference-to.

I think this idea of having individual boutiques within larger stores has been brewing for awhile. There's been Sephora at JCP for quite awhile now, and I think I read that TopShop has partnered up with Nordstrom, and that The Bay in Canada might be opening up Bloomingdales within their stores.

It makes sense to me - very hard to find the right real estate to open up new stores, and then of course, as you mentioned - the overhead. As far as I can tell, the strategy seems like it could be a 'win-win' because dept. stores get to offer up exlusive brands, and those brands get to open up within established stores.

Here's an article re: the Topshop at Nordstrom plan:

http://www.businessweek.com/ar.....th-topshop

I don't think Nordstrom is doing the 'store within a store' thing, but will have an exclusive product/brand. This brings new customers!

In the meantime, I'm excited about JCP's reinvention. I haven't shopped there in awhile, but when I read about Joe Fresh opening up there, I knew I'd be back!

The cross branding of lines is getting more and more popular (because it is easier for Joe Fresh to let JCP have the overhead to bring their brand across entire US next year than for them to raise the overhead to open their own stores!) and expect to see this more at jcp.
Don't expect coupons to return anytime soon but prices will be sharper than ever.
Not inside information since it is all announced publicly!

Let me know if you check out the Levi's shop (especially for Menswear) and what you think.

I can assure you I don't work for Joe Fresh ...:)

I enjoyed Joe Fresh items when I went back home for a visit and found their items at the local Superstore (big-box-ish grocery store). I bought three things - really nice BF jeans, a great blouse and a fab sweater, and I really liked their offerings, as "fast fashion" as they are.

Thing is, my experience is limited - I was back home for a three-week visit, so it's not like I got to try a whole lot of their clothing, but I did really enjoy shopping there when I went off to the grocery store to pick up stuff for the house, and I thought their offerings were *fab* for the low price-point. Very modern and just plain fun.

That said, as Gaylene mentions - they have their hits and misses, just like any other store or brand. I didn't happen to notice any of the 'misses' because I don't shop there on a regular basis. I thought it was a fun store, and am really looking forward to their opening up a bunch of outlets here in the US.

VC---are you working for Joe Fresh or you PR for them? Don't you think they are just knock-off? Have your really owned their clothes? They are grocery store fast items for sure! How can they have their line in their own free standing store on 5th ave, and in JCP too at the same time? Who does that? Nobody will visit their own stores after they are in JCP. JCP always have promotions and sales, with sales price, those "fast fashioln" will be real "fast"!!

Like any inexpensive "fast fashion", Joe Fresh has its hits and misses. That said, I think the line does offer something for everyone, as long as you pick carefully. Some of the styles and fabrics are definitely geared for a young crowd, but the collection also includes some quite nice basics that have a J Crew/Club Monaco vibe. I especially like Joe Fresh for inexpensive summer wear, sleepwear, and exercise clothes.

As for quality, my $8 Joe Fresh T's look quite a bit better after a summer's worth of wash and wear than my Gap T's.

JenA - the Joe Fresh line isn't yet available at JCP - they just announced it today, and as far as I can tell from reading news articles, the Joe Fresh line will be available at JCP in the Spring of 2013. I would assume you'd be able to order Joe Fresh items on the JCP site once they're part of the JCP lineup.

Meanwhile, I'm very happy and excited about this! I haven't shopped at JC Penney in quite awhile, except the summer before last, to pick up some of their St. John's Bay tee-shirts, which I think are very nice quality for the price. Before that, I bought my first regular sized (had been in plus for years) coat there, wanting to get something reasonably priced because I was still losing weight. I think the brand was East Fifth or something like that. Anyway, it was a very nice coat.

Thing is? I got kind of put off with the weird coupons at JC Penney - only valid for a certain time of day, and this annoyed the heck out of me. I don't want to have to jump through hoops to get the sale price, if that makes sense. And, overall, I didn't really like most of the clothing styles offered there.

When Joe Fresh opens up at JCP, you can bet I'll be back to shopping at JCP. I liked the Joe Fresh stuff so much that I'd go to Home Depot if they carried it - lol!

Thing to remember is that it *is* fast fashion - just that it's a lot more modern and fun than a lot of other brands in this vein.

You can pay for groceries at the clothing counter too, as long as they don't require weighing...

I've bought only a few things there, with mixed results. I treat it like any inexpensive store: check each item carefully. Some buys will be a great for the price, others not so much. Some of the styles are really wonderful. I have a skirt from there that my husband comments on every time I wear it, even suggesting I have it taken in when it gets too big so I can keep wearing it (still losing weight here, in case that sounds like a weird comment).

Diana, there are fitting rooms, it is a department in the store with it's own till and dedicated staff (but you can pay for your new clothes at the self check with your groceries if you want).

I'm was so happy to see your post. I just went to the store on Madison Ave (in New York City) yesterday and bought several items from the new fall line. Had to keep myself from buying more.

The style is definitely fun & trendy. I was thinking Zara meets H&M. The color schemes (teal/blue, burgundy orange, taupe/black) are fantastic. I saw lots of graphic prints in very on-trend silhouettes. Loved it all and the prices were really reasonable.

Can you purchase Joe Fresh through JCP online?

So, for all you canadian ladies who apparently can buy Joe Fresh in the grocery store... indulge my silly question, please. How do you try things on? Is there also a fitting room in the grocery store? Or is it like buying clothes at Costco here, where you have to discreetly try on pants under your skirt in the produce section???

I also see Joe Fresh every time I go to the grocery store, soooo tempting!

I have a number of Joe items that I really like: snake print wrap dress that I bought recently, white jeans from a couple of seasons ago that are still going strong, a bikini, and a pile of basic tees, sleep and loungewear.

In my experience the quality is good, especially for the price. Great clearance prices, too

Upon doing some more reading, it turns out that Joe Mimran (founder of Joe Fresh) was also the founder (along with Alfred Sung) of Club Monaco. No wonder I was getting a "Club Monaco" vibe when I first shopped at Joe Fresh. Also, Joe Mimran's wife, Kimberly Newport-Mimran is the founder of Pink Tartan.

"In 1984 Joe co-founded Club Monaco, where he acted as President and CEO.."

"As one of North America’s leading clothing designers, Kimberley Newport Mimram is the creative mind and driving force behind Pink Tartan. Kimberley founded Pink Tartan in 2002 in partnership with her husband and business partner, Joseph Mimran. The move to create her own label followed the birth of her daughter in 2001, hence the “Pink” in Pink Tartan."

Above quotes from this blurb about the husband and wife pair: http://www.slice.ca/shows/proj.....udge9.aspx

Interesting!

They are starting to put out their Fall items now. It's convenient for me because I can check them out each time I go to the grocery store. I've never had any problem with their quality, although some of their things are definitely nicer than others (it depends of the fabric they use). They have a bunch of cute pants right now, but they aren't long enough for me. I've bought a few burgundy-ish tops lately and really want a bungundy w/polka dots shirt, but my store didn't have my size, so I need to go check out a different store. One of our malls has a large stand-alone Joe Fresh store, but I seem to always find more in our grocery store... BTW, they are having a huge clearance sale that people were loving right now--although I was just looking for fall items.

I bought a short sleeved blouse - 70% nylon and 30% silk - coppery colours with black, really nice pattern and have worn it to death. I wash it in the handwash cycle in the washing machine and hang it up to dry. Works well with jeans and can be dressed up nicely. It hasn't shrunk, or faded. No threads bunching or anything. It has held up well, and I'm pretty sure it was less than $20. Also bought BF jeans and they have held up well too - though I've only worn them in the summer. Wash in cold, hang to dry. Bought a gorgeous, slouchy blue fisherman knit style sweater as well - 50% cotton, 25% lambswool, 25% nylon. Again, I wash in the handwash cycle of my machine (cold) and lay it flat to dry on a towel on the ironing board.

This is an inexpensive line - so quality isn't super-high, but it's also not bad at all! Especially for the prices. Given my experience, I would say the quality of the three items I came home with are on par with GAP or LOFT.

I really liked their stuff, and kept finding reasons to go to the Superstore (grocery store) so I could look around some more.

That said, it *is* 'fast fashion' - just something to keep in mind :)

It's too bad their website doesn't show nearly as much as they have in their stores. It'd be nice if they put their 'fall' stuff on there now.

Cool! There is a Joe Fresh store in NYC near Penn Station (I think it's the only US location?) and I've always thought the clothes looked fun and interesting, but I've never had the chance to go inside (always rushing to catch the darn bus or train!).

ETA: Oh, I guess there appear to be several NYC locations and one in NJ but none in the rest of the US.

I love Joe Fresh. I actually have the most experience with their children's clothes. They wear great, are inexpensive, and are really cute.

If the Superstore was closer to us (or was our main grocery store) I would buy much more from there. I hope it works well with JCP!

VC -- were you happy with the quality of your items?

ETA: After posting, I realized that question might make it sound like I was hinting that I knew something negative about the quality of this brand. Not so. I had just never heard of Joe Fresh and am intrigued to hear what you think now that you've had your items awhile.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com.....le4439978/

Last summer was my first experience looking at Joe Fresh items at the local Superstore when I went back home to look after my Mom due to a serious health issue. I bought BF jeans, fabulous tops and so on. Very reasonably priced and fun "fast fashion".

Here's a link to the Joe Fresh site:

http://www.joefresh.com/

Here's some of their women's clothing/accessories:

http://www.joefresh.com/en/category/women

I don't think the Joe Fresh site has nearly as much online as they do in their stores. The prices were insanely reasonable, and the clothes were very modern and stylish. I hope JCP continues on with their 'modernization' / revitalization plans, because Joe Fresh is a lot more modern-looking to my eye than what I think of when I think of JCP.

Anyway, I had a blast shopping at Joe Fresh last summer, so many fun items and incredibly good prices. It felt like 'Club Monaco meets Target' or something long those lines.
