I don't wear turtlenecks, but find any sort of high neckline (mock neck, crew neck) problematic- aside from halternecks, since arms are bare. They feel blocky to me too. Especially with toppers

I use short, chunky necklaces for those, or pendants, but like the other suggestions too.

Another thing is, at least on me, I like high necklines more with midi or shorter skirts or shorts than pants. High neck + pants just seems like too much covering, it feels unbalanced when just the face is bare. Ymmv of course.

The chunky necklace I tried was quite short and tighter against the neck. I have some longer chunky-ish pendants in my jewelry box; I'll dust them off and give them a go.

ps - Brooklyn - lovely to see you! Hope you are well! xx

I wear a longer chain (somewhat chunky) with a medium-sized pendant, kind of like Brooklyn's longer examples, only scaled down for my size (I'm very short, short waisted, and fine boned).

I like a chunky necklace with a turtleneck. Lately I favour shorter versions - around 16-17 inches. I think these work particularly well with separates or if you are wearing a belt (a longer necklace can look busy with a belt or a patterned bottom) eg pics 1-3. I also think shorter necklaces look better under v neck jackets than longer necklaces, because of the way that they peek out at the neck (my attempt at pic 4). A longer necklace would be hidden by the jacket. Longer necklaces work well with dresses or when wearing a column of colour because you get that strong vertical line happening. Around 28-32 inches is good if there is a waistline to what you are wearing eg pic 5. Great 70s vibe too. If there is no waistline, eg a sheath, shift dress or tunic, even Ionger (36-42 inches) can look dramatic. Pic 6 is an old one of mine. That necklace is about 38 inches long. Multi layers can also look dramatic.

I have the “Zoe” lariat necklace from Stella and Dot. It goes well with turtlenecks and many other types of necklines. Gold, silver, dark blue, grey, and a little bit of clear sparkle. It has just enough weight to drape nicely. They still carry it on their web site or you can order from one of their home-party salespeople. I wear it a lot. The find shows it double wrapped but it can also be worn long....check out their website for more photos.

Thank you, everyone! I tried no necklace, and large drop earrings, but I felt like the large block of color needed to be broken up.

These are all helpful guidelines!

My auntie wears a gold ‘collar’ chain. Sorta the same length as in this pic, but her aesthetic is more architectural. She’s a natty dresser.

I think good choices of jewellery are those that are in harmony with your body proportions as well as being reflections of your personal style.

I don't wear dainty jewellery except rings. So with my turtlenecks I wear statement, chunky, medium-sized or layered necklaces--short as well as longer. Often no earrings. But if I feel the need for earrings too, I will just wear a simple coin-sized earring that somehow coordinates with the necklace. Or I will wear dangling big or medium-sized earrings, but no necklace.

I either wear a longer chain and pendant with small hoop earrings, or larger stud or thicker hoop earrings and no necklace. I think the eye is drawn up to the face with the combination of the turtleneck and the earrings.

It should work with your silver jewelry. You can slide middle piece higher and see what works for you.
Otherwise it's pendant necklaces that could work depending on you outfit ( longer necklaces work better with column of color I think ).

As long as the turtleneck isn't an exceptionally thick cable style, I think chunky metallic chains, a bib necklace , y- necklace, waterfall necklace, or a tassel style necklace could work. As a general rule of thumb for turtlenecks, I would avoid very short necklaces or anything that's above your bust.

I pulled my turtlenecks out of the holding zone last month and have been
pleasantly surprised at how often I am reaching for them. But, they feel like something is missing....

I usually wear my short, dainty gold initial block necklace daily, paired with small diamond studs or thin gold hoop earrings. The necklace is too short to work over the turtlenecks. When I try my hoop earrings with a chunky chain necklace, it feels like too much...

I considered a lariat — but worry it will make my long torso look even longer.

What kind of jewelry do you all wear with your mocknecks/turtlenecks?

Any advice on necklace length?
