I wear my wedding rings on my left hand, and a ring passed down from my grandmother on my right hand. Those never come off. I wear diamond studs every day but take them out at night. I always wear a watch but also take it off at night. I often wear a few bracelets on my right wrist, but have been doing so less and less, more because our most recent puppy loves to nip onto them and clamp tight. I have quite a few pieces of costumey jewellery, Stella & Dot type stuff. I mix bits and pieces of it in with the "good" stuff that DH likes to get for me. Often I wear a simple tiny necklace with a diamond or cross. If I forget to take if off, it stays on for a few days till I change it out. Pretty simple, but I do like a wee bit of shine

Yes, it was absolutely enormous! I had wandered through less than half when I finally asked a sales associate if they had any insect jewelry, and she escorted me to the back. I found two necklaces there, and then she pointed out the clearance section, which had even more and was BOGO. But as far as costume goes, they have something for every metal tone, every colour scheme, every theme. It's just insane! I am picturing you walking through with your feet in salon sandals!

I always wear my rings, and a small gold crucifix on a delicate chain, even to bed. I only take off my rings when I make meatloaf :)
I often add other jewelry to these pieces during the day and those pieces come off at bedtime.

Echo - Absolutely! I discovered Charming Charlie because I was waiting for my toes to dry when I went to Nordstrom's spa. Right across the hall was this store FILLED with accessories and it was HUGE!!!! By the time I left my toes were dry but it had also been 4 hours. I just love all the styles and colors.

I do take all my jewelry off at the end of each day, except for my wedding band, which stays on my finger at all times. I put my earrings and necklace back in the jewelry box. The rest of my wedding ring set (engagement ring and wrap ring) and my wristwatch go into a special ceramic plate on my bathroom counter, ready to put back on the next morning. The jewelry I choose to wear the next day also go on that plate so that everything's in one place.

I was just thinking about this again, and realized that since I started working at school, I have purchased more costume necklaces than I have ever had in my life. I enjoy insects and water creatures, and I have costume necklaces with bees, beetles, dragonflies, and fish. The kids I work with are fascinated with them, and it often creates a connection with my special needs students. So I wear long chains with some sort of "critter" on the end that the kids can pick up and look at.

And DayVies, I JUST discovered "Charming Charlie" today. I took my car in to be serviced, which was a fair distance away, and I took a loaner to the mall. I noticed the store, which I had never seen before. I commonly shop in Milwaukee, and I've never seen any there, but this one was in Madison. I purchased a dragonfly, a cat necklace for my DD, and a tiny silver (coloured) bird. But that store was OVERWHELMING!

I have a mix of high and low end. Diamond studs stay in my ears all the time, they get swapped for something dangly 2 - 3 times per year. Everything else comes off when I get home, I hate the feeling of water under my rings etc.

Laura (rhubarbgirl) - I display my broach collection on a small (12"x12") plain white throw cushion - I pin all the pins on in a random way and have it out on my dresser. That way I get to look at them, though I rarely wear them.

I keep my small diamond studs in my second ear piercings in all the time. Everything else comes off when I get home from work or an outing most of the time. I've got crazy dogs, I work out, I'm always doing some sort of housework and I don't want my things to get banged up.

Every day that I go outside the house I wear the heirloom diamond ring passed down through 3 generations in my husband's family and a small gold pinkie ring that is my "Mom jewelry" (my son's birthstone with his name and birthdate engraved on the band). All my other jewelry changes to compliment my outfit. I am a maximal jewelry wearer and I have tons of real and costume jewelry. I think I do a good job at wearing most of the pieces, although I haven't been much into the daintier stuff lately.

I have mostly silver (a lot of Southwest styles, a lot of silver with gemstones) and pearl jewelry. For years, I was always wearing only good jewelry, but the last couple of years I really starting collecting fun costume pieces.

This is fun!

Take off your jewellery at night? When you walk in the door? Only when you change it? Never?
My wedding band never comes off. I don't think it's possible lol
Everything else comes off almost as soon as I get home, I go into the bedroom and put on something comfy. Sometimes, if I really like an outfit AND it's comfortable I might leave it on but that is rare. And sometimes I leave necklaces and earrings on, but rings (I always have 5-6 including my wedding band) come off immediately because I don't want to cook or wash dishes with them on and those are the first things I do after work.

Wear the same pieces every day? Switch between a small number of
'signature' pieces? Have a huge selection and wear something different
every day? Have a jewellery fiesta happening in your closet but you
never wear any of it?

My rings are almost always the same. I might change one or two out but there are 4 constants. I have one necklace that I wear most days as it matches one my husband has, but other than that necklaces and earrings are based on my outfit. I have a pretty decent collection, lots of variety in there. Very few bracelets though, I have a hard time with them. Don't like the feeling on my wrist.

Have mostly costume jewellery? Silver jewellery? Gold jewellery? Precious gems or pearls?

Pretty much entirely cheap stuff. I have a few nicer (ie: slightly less cheap) necklaces I've received as a gift from my MiL, but most of my things are from flea markets or fast fashion stores, usually under $10 and probably half were around $1.99 lol. The most expensive piece besides my wedding band, which is titanium, is a vintage art deco style silver ring with black hematite which was $40 at a flea market. Stylistically I have everything from long pendants to chunky collars to strands of wood beads and a whole gamut in between.

I take off my jewelry when I dress for bed. Or if I'm wearing statement rings I take them off when I get home. I change my jewelry with my outfits and I own A LOT of silver and gemstone jewelry. I do own yellow and white gold, gold vermeil (gold over silver) and rose gold pieces though. I love well-made statement pieces and tend to keep pieces for years at a time. (I have spent HOURS in Charming Charlie looking for just the right pieces.) Like anything I buy I inspect things closely. It's not worth buying no matter what price range if it's not made well.

Of course as a modern classic girl I am also a huge lover of pearls real or fake.

I prefer "real" jewellery on the whole, except that in the past year or so I have been on a costume jewellery necklace-buying spree.
I always wear my engagement ring and small, classic studs - usually yellow gold or my pearls. Occasionally I will wear a bracelet - again, usually yellow gold, but sometimes silver, topaz or semi-precious stones.
I have a nice collection of classic necklaces which are fairly understated, my favourite of which is a yellow gold chain with a round onyz pendant and a gold St. Christopher medal. Up until recently, that was my default necklace and I would sometimes go months without even taking it off. But as stated above, recently I've been wanting to wear chunkier costume jewellery necklaces - I find I've been wearing them about twice a week. I find them fun and fresh, and won't feel bad about sending them to the charity store in two years when I want something new.
I don't remove my earrings or my ring in the evening, but if I am wearing a bracelet or a large necklace, those will come off right away. The other item I remove (the first thing I take off every evening, after my shoes and coat) is my watch. Interestingly, I feel naked without my watch during the day, but never want to wear it when I get home.

At night, I'd say. Not right when I walk in the door, but not necessarily right at bedtime.

- Wear the same pieces every day? Switch between a small number of

I wear a tiny subset of what I have: basically this one necklace, one ring, and some small ball earrings. Occasionally one of two thin metal bracelets or this black leather laser-cut one.

- Have mostly costume jewellery? Silver jewellery? Gold jewellery? Precious gems or pearls?

Oh, I got it all, even tho I don't wear it. I did do a big purge of a lot of junk jewelry tho. Tossed the chunky stuff.

As an avowed jewellery collector, I have a pretty good-sized stash. It's a mix of high and lower end with most of it falling squarely in the middle. I go through it regularly and get rid of the stuff I don't wear or like anymore (which is always the costume stuff - and I now buy way less of that ) . I am a sales rep for a jewellery and watch line (and have had different ones over the years) and so have a good sized collection of watches and bracelets etc that I would never have bought for myself, but do wear once in awhile.

Anyways - it all comes off when i'm in and done for the day. When I wore wedding rings I did keep those on at night.

When my hands and nails are in prime shape, I love to wear a statement ring. I pick the rest of the pieces to work with whatever I'm wearing that day . Studs, watch, maybe bracelets, or a neckpiece, but never all at once

I wear almost no costume jewelry anymore. I wear my engagement ring/ wedding band/ anniversary band on my left ring finger and I generally wear a Gucci horsebit ring on my right. I rarely remove those rings for anything except cleaning. I have several other RHRs, but I generally only wear those for special occasions. I wear diamond stud or diamond halo earrings almost daily, but I do take them off at night, as I've never found earrings comfortable to sleep in.

I have an 18K charm bracelet and a small diamond tennis bracelet, and I generally wear one of those daily. As for necklaces, I have a lot of them. My favourite is a very long gold chain with a small three diamond pendant, I wanted to get Mother's jewelry, but I could not find any I liked, so I chose the three diamonds to represent my three children instead. I have white freshwater, baroque Tahitian and grey akoya pearls, but I am still getting used to wearing them.

Almost all of my jewelry is 18K yellow gold, though there are a couple of 14K pieces. My skin tends to wear away rhodium plating in fairly short order, so white gold pieces aren't ideal for me. If something has to be white metal, I prefer platinum. And while it may be too much for minimalists, I don't think that small earrings, a necklace, a bracelet and a ring on each ring finger is too much if none of the pieces are huge or flashy.

I remove all jewelry at home except my rings, and I often wear the same pieces daily.

Interesting! Most people prefer real jewellery. I thought I'd hear more from costume jewellery wearers.

Do you take your rings off at night? I always take mine off as soon as I get home, but I know lots of people who leave them on all night. I've wondered why I can't leave rings on, yet view my earrings almost like tattoos. It's not that my rings aren't comfortable, but I use my hands all the time and I'm washing them a lot when I'm at home, and I don't like the feeling of soap under the rings. I don't even feel the earrings though.

ETA just as I was writing this, Janet and Sara posted to say they have lots of costume jewellery. :-)

- Take off your jewellery at night? When you walk in the door? Only when you change it? Never?

I take off all jewelry at night, even stud earrings and wedding rings. I might take off watch and other jewelry when I get home, if I'm changing out of my outfit, depending on how late it is, what I need to do in the evening, and whether I might want to leave the house again.

- Wear the same pieces every day? Switch between a small number of 'signature' pieces? Have a huge selection and wear something different every day? Have a jewellery fiesta happening in your closet but you never wear any of it?

I have a BIG collection of jewelry. Some of it was inherited from my mom, and I may never wear it, but it's sentimental to me. Most of it is just costume jewelry and artisan pieces I've collected over the last 30 years.

My jewelry habits have been changing lately. For the last year of so, I've rarely worn earrings other than the diamond studs that my husband gave me (I do sometimes switch them out with small pearl studs). Ironic because I have a huge number of dangly earrings, but I just haven't been feeling like adding more detail around my face since I have been wearing more interesting eyeglasses.

My usual routine is wedding rings on the left hand, a statement ring on the right hand (changes every day depending on the outfit, but usually silver and sometimes with some sort of stone). Watch on the left arm. Diamond stud earrings. If the outfit needs something extra, I'll go for a pendant or statement necklace, or sometimes lately, something a bit more dainty. Bracelets only seem to get worn in the warmer months.

- Have mostly costume jewellery? Silver jewellery? Gold jewellery? Precious gems or pearls?

Mostly costume and artisan jewelry. Mostly silver. The nice stuff usually only comes out on special occasions. It's hard to justify wearing really nice stuff when I am poking around junkyards with my camera, you know?

I have lots of costume jewelry and very few real gold/silver pieces. I wear my wedding ring and another thin gold band 24/7. I never take them off. I take all my other jewelry off as soon as I get home from work because I completely change clothes - either into workout wear or lounge wear.

On the weekends I wear different jewelry - wrap bracelets and smaller necklaces that I can wear all day and that don't interfere with cooking/cleaning/running after kids, etc.

i have a mid-sized collection of nice jewelry - mostly sterling silver but also some 14k or 18k gold - only real gemstones. Nothing fake due to skin allergies. I don't wear rings except my wedding rings, though, and only a couple of bracelets. I wear earrings, a watch and my wedding ring set every day. I love my necklaces but wear one when it enhances the outfit I'm wearing. It all depends.

Most of my jewelry is fairly dainty. And it's a mostly costume with a few real pieces starting to come in. I wear my wedding band and engagement ring all the time, unless it's one of those nights when I slather my hands in lanolin and wear gloves.

I usually vary between a few pieces, but I'm trying to make myself wear more of my costume jewelry or get rid of it. I keep thinking that I want to go more minimalist, but then I find another piece and that goes out the window. :)

A lot of my costume silver jewelry is sterling silver because it wears so well. I don't have a lot of gemstones or gold jewelry, but I'm trying to start building my collection.

I wear my wedding ring and earrings basically all the time (I rarely swap out the earrings)
Dangly necklaces get taken off as soon as I get home unless I have guests.
I don't really wear bangles as I find them irritating.
I'd wear a watch if I had one (I don't seem to keep them long)but only wear my GPS watch for running.

I love jewelry and wear it every day. I usually wear real; I started buying it for myself when I got my first real job, over thirty years ago. I take it off as soon as I get home each night. Most of it is yellow gold; but I do have a silver capsule. I wear my wedding rings, ( a sapphire engagement ring, a plain gold wedding band, and a sapphire and diamond anniversary band) every day. I always wear earrings. I prefer studs or buttons, but I also like those with a European ear wire. I have lots of bracelets and usually wear either one or three on my right wrist. My favorite gold one is lacy hearts linked together, and my favorite silver one is a cuff with my monogram. Whether I wear a necklace or brooch depends on my outfit. I love watches and wear either a two tone Rolex, a stainless Cartier tank, a retro Hamilton, or a Timex with a pink stripe grosgrain band. So that's it!

I'm quite minimal with my jewellery but I do like to pop on a cuff or earrings in the evening or if I'm out and about during the day. I have a few classic pieces such as a pearl necklace and a silver bangle, both of which were gifts and which I've had for years. Other items are statement pieces, such as the cuffs, silver pendants and long, multistrand necklaces.

I sometimes sleep in earrings, but that's usually because I've forgotten/been too tired to to take them off!

I only like genuine for myself....and have a nice but not massive collection of white and yellow gold, silver, diamonds, rubies, pearls and semi- precious black onyx and crystals. My watch is a diamond faced Tag Heuer. I remove all my jewellery before bed and when I dress I pick the right pieces and the right bag to go with what I'm wearing each day. I always like to wear some jewellery but not to excess. So I wouldn't wear earrings, watch, necklace, rings, bangles and bracelets all at once.

Laura, I also have some charmingly ridiculous jewellery that I inherited from my grandma. Seeing it makes me happy because think of her (she passed away a long time ago, but she was a sweet, gentle woman and an excellent grandmother) but I doubt I'll wear any of it -- except this one strand of faux pearls that I wear sometimes when I'm feeling daring -- pearls are so far out of my comfort zone that any kind is daring! :-)

I've gotten pretty minimal with jewelry. Most days I only wear my watch and my wedding ring; I don't even wear my engagement ring anymore except for special occasions. Occasionally I'll put on earrings or a necklace. I used to wear earrings a lot more when I had short hair.

I take off my watch when using the computer but wait to take off my wedding ring until I am putting on my pjs. My DH gave me a Fitbit for Christmas and I've been struggling with it - it's one of the wrist units that's also a watch and I could just wear it instead of a watch, but I actually like my watch and miss wearing it. Also, the wearing it 24/7, so that it can track your sleep and such, is a little odd to me.

Most of my jewelry is cheap mall stuff, with a few real pieces my parents gave me when I was younger. I've got some of my grandmother's costume jewelry collection, including a lot of OTT mid century brooches which I really never know what to do with, even though they make me smile.

Just for fun -- do you:

- Take off your jewellery at night? When you walk in the door? Only when you change it? Never?

- Wear the same pieces every day? Switch between a small number of 'signature' pieces? Have a huge selection and wear something different every day? Have a jewellery fiesta happening in your closet but you never wear any of it?

- Have mostly costume jewellery? Silver jewellery? Gold jewellery? Precious gems or pearls?

Me: I wear my wedding rings on my left hand and one other ring (usually my huge skull, or sometimes a big round red stone) on the right hand every single day, but I take them off within minutes of getting home. For some reason I don't like wearing rings inside my house.

I almost never take out my earrings. I wear five small fat hoops and I usually forget they are there. I think of them as just part of my face.

I wear a necklace or a bracelet very occasionally. I have a very small collection of meaningful jewellery. I don't own any precious stones (other than my wedding ring) but I do have some nice gold pieces and silver pieces. None of it is especially dainty though.
