Nishaa, I'm not sure DHs ever completely understand! I think I'll count footwear, outerwear and accessories next. I'm not sure I'd have the focus for CPW but I'm thinking of creating a separate season capsules (fall, winter, spring, summer). It's easy for me to wear very different items in summer and winter but spring, fall and winter seem to run together. If I create more specific capsules for these seasons I could ballpark a cost per wear.

Lyn, you're right! I think I'm a very bottom up dresser. My climate often dictates my footwear, which in turn dictates my bottoms - and then mostly I just hope the top doesn't look awful. I have a long over lean default in fall/winter that's feeling a bit old.

I find also that others rarely notice what we wear on our lower half, so more tops really adds variety and interest.
Perhaps you could zero-in on tops first when you shop, and sometimes buy with a view to altering tops you like to fit perfectly?

Kerry, I do that too!!!! Yay!!!! I thought I was a little obsessed. DH thinks so too.
Agree with Jenn, my bottoms will be approx half of tops....
I club leggings with hosiery and don't count them. But I count my outerwear clubbed with winter wear mostly. I also count my shoes, handbags. Other accessories too...like jewellery or watches for eg.

I recently lost whole current data :-(
I'm trying to now fill up spreadsheets to include CPWs as well.

Jenn, we cross-posted. Yes! My bottoms-to-tops ratio seems totally out of whack! I guess that's why it's helpful to count!! Need to ponder ...

I'm not sure I have much variety in my wardrobe. I think I'm realizing I'm a uniform dresser - just need to be clearer on what the uniform IS for each season.

Lyn, it makes sense to have more tops than bottoms. Why are my numbers almost even?! I think I find tops harder to fit. Something for me to ponder!

Another one with a similar wardrobe size to mine (although, I did count my footwear and occasion wear, the other categories I didn't count were the same as you)!

Do your tops/bottoms feel out of balance at all to you? It seems like most people feel like more tops provide more variety, but maybe that's not the case for you.

I love wardrobe number posts too!
You have what I would call a moderate in size closet.
My numbers are similar except that I have twice as many tops as bottoms-
24 pants and 51 tops.

I love wardrobe analysis/counting posts. I'm a math nerd. I taught math for 12 years before I became a kindie teacher.

I live a very casual lifestyle - both in activities and attitude :)

I also live with four seasons - 2 fleeting (spring and fall) and 2 extreme (summer and winter). I have several items that transition but quite a few that don't.

These numbers only reflect everyday wear. There are a lot of items I didn't count ...
outerwear
footwear
accessories
handbags

I also didn't count specialty capsules ...
Sleep
Lounge
Camping
Other gear
Special occasion

Bottoms - 29
Mostly denim which I wear up to 10 months of the year. I have some winter only denim (skinnies) and fall/spring (straights) and cool summer days (100% cotton). I have dark blue, medium blue and light blue, grey, white, black and burgundy. Total denim count = 14
I also have 2 leggings, 3 joggers, 2 summer cargo pants, 2 summer skirts and 6 shorts (2 are on notice since I found 4 much more comfortable pairs this summer)

Tops - 32 (tees, shirts, blouses and pullover sweaters)

Toppers - 16 (mostly cardigans, 2 blazers and 2 vests)

Dresses/tunics - 4 (mostly used as tops over denim or leggings)

Thanks Jenn!
