Thank you all for the suggestions. This was very useful. My post-partum body is larger but with entirely different proportions. The Rack was full of sweaters and jackets but had very low inventory of denim. I will order online this time around.

Not premium denim, but have you tried Express jeans? In particular the Zelda fit--ignore the "ultralow" rise indication, if you're comfortable in AE jeans the rise isn't any lower. My natural figure is very straight (squishy waist, narrow hipbones, curvy rear and thighs) and I find that the higher the rise, the more muffin top I get, paradoxically. In premium brands, I liked Hudson and 7 For All Mankind the last time I tried jeans at Nordstrom, but I don't own any of them. I also really like AG's low rise skinnies but haven't had as much luck with their slightly higher mid-rise bootcuts.

I sympathize with the post-baby body blues. I'd also recommend Not Your Daughter's Jeans. They have a higher rise, which may or may not be your cup of tea, but they're comfortable and make the belly behave (i.e. no muffintop).

I find AE jeans to run proportionately large through the waist and small through the hips and thighs. As far as premium denim, I find Hudson to be analogous. I've also had luck with COH, AG, and Joe's (so long as you don't go for a curvy fit).

Try 7 Jeans. I buy AE because I cannot afford to have a closet full of premium 7s. They fit very close to each other, IMO. Even their pocket design and placement is spot on.

I like the 7 Roxanne fit the best but those are skinnies. The 7 Bootcuts in their New York wash are awesome too.

I don't have any boot cuts from Paige, but I have two pairs of skinny jeans and they are some of my best fitting, most comfortable pairs I own. I have read others including Angie recommend the Paige Hidden Hills boot cut jean. I asked an SA at Nordstrom once which brand of premium denim was their best-selling and they replied, "Paige." So that says something as well.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/pa.....sultback=0

The Hidden Hills looks a little like the AE Artists to me.

I lovee my hudson bootcut jeans. I actually wanted to buy the ae artist but I tried them and flattened down my butt so I didn't get them. I've tried on a lot of jeans and my hudson are the best bootcut jeans I've come across, but I haven't tried joe's jeans and people really like those.

My mother offered to babysit today and I spent a frustrating afternoon at Nordstrom Rack trying on all sorts of jeans. I am struggling with all sorts of post-baby body issues and figured I should start with a good pair of jeans. The only pair that I works for my body right now is a pair of AE Artists. They bag out after a day of wear and I am hoping to find a pair of premium denim that fits similarly. Any ideas on what brands or cuts I should try?
