I have a similar body type and find that boyfriend style jeans are easiest to fit over my thighs. They are cut more generously in the thighs. I have had good luck with Kut from the Kloth in the Catherine cut and AG Jeans in the Nikki relaxed skinny cut. There is a pair of AG Nikki's in the Anniversary Sale.

Good luck!

Hi girls, thanks for your replies. I haven't ever had the waist done by a tailor, so I'm not sure. In my past even curvier days I did it myself. But a good thought. Thanks for your advice:)

I love jeans but I generally have the tight thigh/loose waist problem and it makes denim shopping very frustrating. I have found a style of jeans I love (KUT Annie boyfriend) and although they're no longer a style that's sold in the stores I have found they pop up on Ebay occasionally so I have been planning to replace mine. I have lost some weight and my current pair is in danger of sliding off my body soon---based on this thread i'm considering going to a tailor to alter the waist so I can wear them a while longer and wait for the next size down to pop up at auction. How much would taking in the waist generally cost in your neck of the woods?.

I echo Tania - I have accepted for my curvy body that getting jeans just right off the rack is not gonna happen - so I buy to fit my hips and thighs and get tailored.
Once I accepted this really only this last year my jeans capsule grew from 1 pair of jeans to about 8 pair in a blink.

good look

I don't have any particular brand recommendations, but I have found tailoring to be essential. I make sure the pants fit on the hips/thighs and then get the waists taken in and alter the hems as needed. It is relatively affordable and I now find jean shopping much easier.

I am a short (5ft 2) hourglass, about a size 6 US, but very small boned and at the moment I have a bit of pad on the hips and a mummy tummy as well as a bum that sits high and well defined. I like my figure in everything but jeans! They always look tight on the thigh and have a tendency to be loose on the waist, but they suit my sahm life style. I live in oz but like the variety I see in nordstrom and loft and they will ship here for me. I want a light blue and a white, what brands and cuts would you lovely ladies suggest???
