good question R&J- basically I"m looking to look hot in my jeans ;-)
but seriously, you helped me to see how the pockets make the jeans work or not work. I think the pockets in the 505s are too high and too far apart, making me look ultra wide. The straighter, lower pockets, pull me down and give a more slender look. Thanks for the input.l
I prefer the Loft jeans too, but they need to be worn with heels, and I want a pair to wear with flats for every day.

I'm definitely not a jeans expert, I've been hunting for straight legs for what seems like a lifetime. I've noticed that the straight pockets on jeans 2 and 4 create the illusion of straighter figure, whereas the pockets on jeans one really emphasize your curves.

Are you looking to streamline or highlight your figure?

My favourite pair are the Loft jeans.

knees huh? I would never in a million years thought to look at how jeans fit in my knees. "Hey hon, do these jeans make my knees look fat?" LOL
anyway, thanks for that input. I"ll definitely add that to my check list of what to look at when trying jeans on.
As far as rise, I tend to go for the medium rise-- too low and I'm definitley tugging them up all the time. But, I agree, the 7's do seem to be a bit higher in the rise.
Anyhow, thanks Rute and Oneirix for your input. A

Hey queenie!

For the 505's, the biggest problem appears to be bagging around the rear and not fitted through the knee. They look super comfy though! I'd say keep them for loungewear. :p

The 526's appear to have the same problems...although I must say they are MUCH more flattering than the 505's to me cut-wise, but I can see the length problem and it sounds like they fit your hips but not your waist (that could be why they bag in the back? I'm not sure).

Agh! Jealous of your legs. :p Anyway...

The 7's..that rise is not working for me. I think it might be an inch or so too high?

The LOFT jeans look alright, and pocket-wise I think they're fine.

I think the biggest thing you might be interested in as far as jean fit goes is fitting through the knee and finding the right rise for you. I'm certainly no expert, but I've found my legs look GREAT provided the jeans are fitted through the knee. Also if you're hourglassy a tailor could easily fix bagging issues by taking in the waist a wee bit so it still fits over your hips but will stay up without a belt.

Let's wait to hear what the other ladies have to say, but that's my two cents. I hope it helps a little!

I agree the first is not flattering at all-- what I'm trying to figure out is why? What do I need to be avoiding/looking for in my next pair of jeans?

It's not so bad! You have a nice figure.
No. 1 - not very flattering
No. 2 - the cut is better but I prefer a darker wash.
no. 3 - looks fine to me..
no. 4 - looks fine to me also.

Photos are great because it gives us a more accurate preception of how a piece works.. or not.

Okay, so I think I figured out how to post pictures. Here are my current 4 pairs of jeans. First of all let me say that I am ***shocked*** at how bad they all look on me. I had no idea. I'm hoping that you all can shed some light on what I need to be looking for in the future. I'm looking to buy a nice pair for every day wear (probably with flats) and I don't mind spending up to $100.

This first pair is my good old (really old) 505's. As you can see they have seen their better days. These are my version of "loungewear"

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/

Next up is a pair of 526's that I bought last year. I've never been happy with them because by noon I'm constantly tugging on the waist to pull them back up, and they are a tad too short. I'll probably get rid of them.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/

Next are a pair of 7's that I picked up at Mervyn's last year. I have always felt that they leave me looking thick in the tummy from the front and side.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/

And finally a pair of classic boot cut from LOFT that I snagged last spring for I think 9 bucks. I think I don't like the square pockets. They make my butt look square too.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....473942318/

Clearly I need help.... someone please come to my denim blues rescue! Thanks so much for your help.
