Just getting to this now. Wow, you did great! I really, really like the Dre's on you. No need to worry about the rear view *at all*. They're extremely flattering. My favorite look is with booties (super!), then with your slip-ons. I don't like them quite as much with your oxfords, but I can't quite put my finger on why. Somehow, the line of your leg isn't as nice with the jean cuff and the vamp of the show. That's strictly my opinion, and it's still probably JFE. Maybe with a jacket there?

I like the new Joe's and think they look great. From the front, they read as a relaxed straight or a slim BF, and they fit you very well in the rear. I think they'd be fun to have in your wardrobe.

Really like the Paige skinnies, too. Fit and color are terrific, and, if they're that comfortable, I vote keep. Well, I obviously vote keep on all three.

Pastrygirl, I don't think your tolerance for a tight thigh fit on jeans is too low. Many, many women wear jeans that fit like yours do, and it is fashionably acceptable. It's me who has a low tolerance for "too tight". I usually size everyone up when they ask for my opinion. I wear my tailored fits looser than most people on this forum - so it's merely a personal preference, and nothing more than that. To my eye, things looks extra chic when they are a little looser., so that the reason behind it all - FWIW.

I think #7 are a good update to #8. The slightly wider ankle, and bit of scrunch I think I see, temper the skinniness. #8 are looking a bit more like jeggings and to me, not dated, but not as current or quite as flattering. I'd probably hang onto them to wear with tunic-length shirts and boots though. Or even try rolling them a bit.
Your butt generally looks great. No worries there. You have a nice figure, I think it's more a matter of the look of the moment not being quite so body con as it was.

I really feel tired of the sausage casing skinny look myself (to be brutally honest) BUT I am still going to be wearing them come winter because that is what works practically.

Wow, thank you all for the responses!! I posted because I wasn't sure if I needed an eye adjustment, but it sounds like I do. I really thought the responses would be to return them all. I've retried the new pairs again this morning and really love the Dre and distressed pair (even if this pair is not optimal). I'm waiting on the Paige skinnies because I hadn't planned to buy more skinnies this year. Yet once boot season is upon us, I'm sure I'll change my mind.

I am casting my vote as well, #1-3 because you look great from all angles, and #7 because the rear view is fantastic. I like 8, 9, 10, and I am glad you love them, because I think they look really cute.

I would get rid of those weekend jeans altogether, regardless of what you keep or return. Why keep something you don't feel absolutely fabulous in? Unless you know you've got a big painting job coming up and need something to wear.

Thanks for the replies so far! Followup question, since a few of liked the first and third new pairs. Should I return the second new pair (pic 5)?

And Angie, is the thigh tightness problematic on the rear views where it wrinkles? The front is smooth and doesn't trigger a red flag for me, but I usually do have a tolerance level for the back-thigh-wrinkling. Maybe my tolerance level is too high?

I'm being brutally honest: your behind looks very good in 1-3, and also in 9. Less so in the others. If it were me in 1-3, I would be very happy (because jeans usually look bad on me).

Admittedly, I am biased. I have those Dres, as you know from Boston.

I think they look ah-mazing on you!! I love them better than ANY of your other jeans, hands down. They are a great update for the ones in #4. A completely different (and more sophisticated) look, IMO.

The new Paige jeans look good, too -- they are for sure a skinny but they work if you need a real skinny!

The silhouette (and pocket type) of the last jeans are definitely different enough that the new Paige are not a duplication.

My main question: would you think anything of it if you saw someone IRL that looked like this in these jeans? My backside doesn’t look like a model’s by a long shot.

Second question: do the new/replacement pairs offer any improvement over the old pairs? Or vice-versa? Be brutally honest! Please comment on anything — front view, back view, shoe choice, how you might wear it, request for different photos, etc.

Happenstance: As I was walking out the door to go to Nordstrom today to return some stuff and look at jeans, I got a call from them offering me $50 off my purchase if I met with a stylist. Also had a Note!

Craziness: these are sizes 28, 31, and 32.

PICS 1-3. New: Rag & Bone Dre. I bought and returned the NAS Rag & Bone Dre jeans because of the back view (fading placed a spotlight on my backside) I had already sized up, but Angie suggested sizing up further. Today I found the Dre style in-store in a much lighter wash and two sizes up, and I love them unconditionally from the front. I'm not going to look like the models with itty-bitty behinds, but I ask you, do I look ridiculous? You know, like when you're walking behind someone that you immediately think looks truly unfortunate in the jeans she's wearing? (I don't have that thought often, but it does occasionally happen.)

PIC 4. Old: Above would replace this very casual pair with heavy contrast stitching. These are weekend jeans, not work jeans. Never been happy with how they fit. What do you think of the R&B as a replacement for these?

PIC 5. New: Joe’s with some distressing. I didn’t like these in the next size up at all.

PIC 6. Old: Above would replace this pair of Joe’s that are crazy long. I didn’t wear these at all last winter because of the length. The folding gets so bulky. I did wear them in the spring, but I’d still prefer a shorter pair.

PIC 7. New: Paige Skyline skinnies. I was not looking for skinnies at all, but the color and feel of these drew me in!

PIC 8. Old: Citizens of Humanity Rocket skinnies. I still like these and will wear them, but the Paige pair feels like soft leggings rather than denim.

PIC 9. Old: DKNY “skinnies” which fit more like a skinny straight. Love these, will never let them go! Boy, in these photos they look a lot like the Paige pair. The feel is completely different, though.

PIC 10. Old: Liverpool bootcut. Also still love these. Just added this photo for reference, because the color is similar to the Paige. I think the silhouette is different enough that I can duplicate the shade of denim.
