Have you tried Rag & Bone for skinnies? I am a rectangular hourglass with curvy legs and a slight nip in for a waist. I ordered a few pairs on sale once because someone here looked so terrific in them (I think it may have been alaskagirl). The legs were so cut so slim that 2 sizes up from my usual looked huge in the waist, yet were still sausage casing-like in the legs on me. Might be a much better cut for you.

Well, since I have the exact opposite problem, I can steer you away from brands that often work for me: AG,
Paige, and Lucky. I have no idea what it feels like to pull on a pair of jeans and not feel them sucking to my thighs.

Definitely lower rise! I can't do the high waisted styles at all. I agree with the Gap suggestion also. I've had good luck there.

Echoing the recommendations for American Eagle and J Crew. I am not a rectangle, but a good friend of mine is -- these are two places where she successfully shops for jeans. A cousin of mine, who is a slim rectangle, wears only True Religion jeans -- fabulous on her but they are pricey.

Nthing the suggestion of American Eagle and lower rises in general. Your hip measurement is likely less disproportionate than your waist measurement, so you'll be able to wear a smaller size = slimmer legs.

Interesting that Angie and amiable both mention NYDJ which tends to work for me -- and I have exactly the opposite body type: Smallish waist and heavy legs with calves most often too tight. Maybe it's because I have a pancake booty? I size down one or two sizes with NYDJ. Amiable also mentioned Jag, which believe it or not tend to work for me. I think I also may have a pair of Kut Dianas.

thanks again everyone. I tried on the NYDJ about a year ago and found the control panel positively suffocating. Maybe there are different models that don't have that? I will do some research!

I have a similar shape to you, and NYDJ work okay for me, because they have a lot of stretch. Target straight fit also works (but that's not an option for you). Loft straight fit sometimes works for me (but it does tend a tad curvy still). I have a pair of Jag jeans that work pretty well, and a pair of Kut Diana's that give me slight muffintop, but otherwise work well.

I was going to recommend American Eagle - lower rise might help you fit better? Jcrew is cut very slim (to me at least) but might work as well.

Ladies thanks so much.
We no longer have target here. We do have Gap, American Eagle and a J Crew Outlet.
I am going to head over to American Eagle and have a look at those at lunch today. Maybe the Gap as well.
Karie which Gap jeans do you like. The idea to take in the legs is excellent and might be the answer for me.

I have a rectangular shape and find that jeans from Gap fit me best. JCrew is also usually a good fit on me. You might also consider having the legs altered and taken in a bit. This is much easier to do / have done on jeans that have a regular seam and don't have the "Jean seam" down the side.

And I'll second the Target suggestion, especially for skinnies. Skinnies are rarely snug on my calves, but the midrise skinnies from target are definitely slimmer in the legs than most. It took me a bit to get accustomed to the feeling of my pants hugging my legs.

Have you tried boyfriend/girlfriend styles? It seems counterintuitive because they're always marketed saying they have more ease in the hips and thigh, but I find the boyfriend styles often work for me because they seem to be cut very straight between hips and waist and ease in the legs looks more intentional.

Do you have American Eagle Outfitters there? I find some of their styles cut straighter between hip and waist. I also like that on their website they display the jeans laying flat, not on a model, so you can really get a sense of the proportions of the jean, not just how great they look on a tall size 2. They run some pretty great sales on jeans at back to school time too. Their Favorite Boyfriend flares were a favorite of mine when I was wearing flares.

Wow, sounds exactly like me! I often buy pants based on the waist size and then take in the hips but of course that doesn't usually work with jeans because of pockets and top-stitching. I'm not a lot of help but my last few that I like are from Target. They have different body-type fits and sometimes lengths also. And they aren't expensive Do you still have Target in Canada? I remember they closed a lot of them.

I really need some help with jeans.
I wear jeans almost every day. I find jeans super difficult to fit. I am 5'3, size 10, have skinny legs and no waist. I feel I need to find a brand that might work because the bottom half is depressing me.
My current few jeans are lackluster and are not doing me any favours. I wear mostly skinny jeans but am in the market for one pair of bootcuts or flare. I have to try on many many jeans to find anything that remotely works. This is mostly due to jeans looking like jodhpurs due to skinny legs. If I size down for the leg I have serious muffinitis going on around the waist.
I would be so grateful for any suggestions. I am in Canada so shopping is much more limited.
