Thanks all.

PacSun is what she'd like to wear...but the cuts are too straight.

She had luck with F21 on shorts this springs/summer. Hasn't tried UO other than for trendy tops. We're planning a quick shop this weekend while she's between summer programs - will definitely try both!

I think my DDs have purchased jeans at Forever 21. They make clothing for every size and body type; I think it's their secret.

Gretchen - I know what you mean. For some reason one ON pair fit better than the others. Annoying that the same named jean could fit lots of different ways. My DD doesn't like low rise, but the curvy high rise looks momish on her with her long torso and shorter rise. So much so that I have actually ruled them out before. Curious about vigoss, but wondering if waist will be too big.

Vigoss is in the junior's department at Nordstrom--so technically it's not a mom brand My daughters like Zella brand leggings too. We haven't had much luck at Gap or ON--they seem to be cut for a more mature figure. The same goes for GV.

Thanks for the suggestions!

@Thistle and @joy We haven't tried Kohls yet, but there's one near our house. Right now she's not into high rise, but has been clear that low rise is OUT (yay!)

@KellyGirl I had completely forgotten about AE. Will definitely look. Nordstrom still counts as a Mom Store, although I can talk her into online buying occasionally, so will look at Vigoss

@delurked and @aziraphale, last 2 trips to ON and Gap were a bust. I think it's just that the ones closest to us are more limited in their offerings. Maybe I'll see about some online orders there too. Totally agree on leggings - she's a dancer, so if she could live in leggings that would be her choice!

Thank you!

All the teens and young women where I live wear high rise jeans. It's trending! I'm pretty sure the Gap has a "curvy" cut that goes down to small sizes, and is meant for hourglass types.

GV has a high rise I think would be a tough sell for my teen. Kohls has met with some success for her in the jr dept. My DD has had success with ON rockstar. ON also does have a curvy fit, but another high rise that I'm not crazy about. I'd like to have her try AE, as I've also heard fits well for a younger curvy shape. She's also done a couple hue denim and other leggings with tunic tops and boots, since it fits the waist without large back gap.

Has she tried American Eagle? That brand seems to work better for the curvy--Hollister OTOH seems to be cut more for the boyish figures. There is Vigoss in the Nordstrom junior's department too. Good luck!

I'd start with Kohls. The ones by me have huge teen sections.

If nothing there works, I'd try Gap and Old Navy.

When I was he age, it was cool to shop thrift stores. We'd then DIY to our jeans.

Hi All,

I've got a high schooler who is not yet ready to shop "Mom's stores", but the jeans cuts for teen stores don't work with her curves. She's a 2-4, hourglass, and prefers sporty/casual clothes. Any suggestions on stores/brands for her to explore?

Thanks!
