Angie, I'm wearing Banana Republic Urban Boot Cut, Kut from the Kloth straight, Levi's Straight, Gap ... all are a couple of years old (pre-baby). All are size 6, and the thought of wearing a 4 seems so ... small! My waist is not a size 4 waist!!!!

(Maybe I should just wear skirts more often. I fit skirts pretty easily.)

Christie, I am an apple shape and have found mid rise jeans the best. I have also been buying mine a little tight recently and have found they have been fitting better as apparently most jeans stretch half a size anyway (thats what the sales assistant told me)

Premium is out of my budget too. I'll try a smaller size ... so scary at the store though! I'm worried I'll buy something so uncomfortable. I will try spritzing the waistband.

I'm going to have to try that Maya.

Christie - I think that this is the reason that I don't usually find jeans comfortable. If something fits my hips and thighs, it's too tight in the waist and digs in. I have found that premium denim seems to work a lot better in this regard, but for right now, that's out of my budget. If it's not out of yours, I would definitely try more expensive jeans.

Buy your jeans snug, even if they are slightly uncomfortable. Take them home and spray the waistband with water and just move around and go about your usual activities. They will mold to your body as they dry. You may need to repeat this process after each wash.

Hi Christie, welcome to the forum! I'm no expert, so take my response with a grain of salt. (-:

1. If your jeans have any stretch to them at all you'll ruin them by putting them in the dryer. Air dry them, then the stretch will have a better chance of not bagging out. Also, only wash them when they are truly dirty since washing is hard on clothes in general
2. Some brands have issues with over-stretching with wear. Find a different brand (Gap? Or some other more expensive brand if you're in the money. (-:)
3. Do buy them nice a snug if they have stretch in them. Remember they'll fit to your body with wear. Or, try to find some without stretch in them (probably not as comfy, though...)

After years of YLF reading, I just realized in the past couple of months that all of my jeans are too big or bag out. I think they look pretty good freshly washed, but hang around my hips and thighs within a few hours. Not a good look. But I must make the same mistake everytime I purchase them ... am I buying a size too big? But as an apple, how to fit my waistline without having the button and zipper pull?
