No, because it has those little perforations in it. Very difficult to clean.

Vinegar (or acid) is for animal source fabric such as wool and silk. Salt is for plant source fabric such as cotton and linen. See #13 in the following:

I've had this problem too, and washing with vinegar did not help. The jeans were not cheap either! Sad to say, I avoid wearing light colored booties with dark jeans. I also had a light grey bag that got stained this way, from rubbing on my hip when I'd wear it on my shoulder.

I hear you about light suede bags The least, but anoying thing is light tops that all are blue stained on the inside when wearing them with dark denim

I've tried the vinegar but it didn't work on my jeans....maybe I didn't use enough??? However, I like the idea of sewing a ribbon inside the jeans which might prevent the rub-off.....hmmmmm. Also haven't tried the salt, and don't know how much to use...following this thread, as my jeans got a blue tinge on my cognac oxfords last season...

I've heard the salt and the vinegar solutions too - but never tried them. The indigo dye situation can be so problematic that I just decided never to wear dark jeans with light coloured leathers and suedes after having ruined a leather jacket and a handbag that way....and I don't wear bootcut or flared jeans for that reason too.

I think I''ll try salt treatment. Some advice offers that adding vinegar while washing "locks" color into fabric, I'll try that too.
My jeans are quite old, I wouldn't like to spend on alterations.

I have read that if you wash the jeans with salt in the water it will set the dye. I haven't tried it myself but it is supposed to work.

I think it's the indigo dye from your jeans causing it and I'm afraid it takes a good lot of washes for it to stop rubbing off if ever. I have similar jeans, but I have to say I tend not to wear them with light footwear. However... I just thought of an idea.. how about sewing a piece of wide ribbon around the hemline inside the jeans at the bottom? It's only just occurred to me to try this as a possible solution and I may try it myself too.

Hi Joana!
I have an almost identical issue! I wear them (taupe suede booties and french navy jeans) together regardless......
I will be watching this thread with interest!

I wonder is there a magic solution that I am not aware of :)
The problem is that I have a nice pair of dark wash flare jeans, and a nice pair of taupe suede booties, that go together very well. But jeans lay depressed in the closet, because of the my fear them damaging my booties. The fear is rational thought, because after some wearing I noticed blueish stains on booties parts that gets friction with jeans
I did shoe moisture impregnation with spray product, it may helped a little, but the problem persists.
Any ideas anyone?
