The matchsticks work well Eva. The pockets are a little skew and the seams don’t quite reconnect. Not too bad though. You’ll be covering up that part of jeans most of the time.

It’s inevitable for pretty pears to seek waist alteration. I don’t see any way around it, especially with jeans. Your bottom looks fabulous and so do the jeans

Nothing like a close up on your butt. Here are the pictures. The second picture is very close. It is not off by much.

Julijuli I took in at least an inch on the waist - that's a lot.

Maya, I don't disagree with you on matchsticks not being the best for a pear. but where do you find a good pair of skinnies or straight legs for a pear? I didn't like the DKNY because they kept growing bigger.

I don't know about alterations, but I don't believe the Matchstick is a good pair of jeans for a pear (I know that kind of sucks to hear). I am not a pear myself, but even I find them extremely tight around my thighs and hips..not so much because they are small, but because they are cut very straight and with no give to accommodate any sort of curves. I tried on a 26 and 27, but decided to go with the 26 because I thought they would stretch out. This has not been the case, and unfortunately I hardly get any use out of them. They look fine, as long as I wear a loose enough top to conceal the muffin top, and a long enough top to conceal my rear...but they are not comfortable. I wish I had gone with the 27. Or perhaps they're just best left to the rectangles of the world.

Definitely the alteration. I will take a picture tomorrow and post it. I don't think it is too noticeable. The jeans fit great otherwise.

It's definitely all about the skill of the seamstress, Eva. You’ve seen my alterations and you can’t see they were altered. Just like Julijuli. I’m sorry you have lopsided pockets

Eva - I think it may have been the way the alteration was done? I just got my jeans back from altering to have the waistband taken in (I am a pear) and you can't even tell that it's been done! How much did you need it taken in? Mine was probably about an inch. (edited) I'm thinking that maybe you can have it fixed if they didn't do it correctly.

Eva, did the pockets become lopsided from the alteration? Or were they lopsided before?

Is it really noticeable? Do you feel comfortable taking a photo so we can see if it's a big noticeable issue??

Is it worth it to alter the waist on jeans or just find jeans (if possible) where the waist fits perfect? I purchased the matchstick jeans several months ago. I wore them unaltered for a while then paid more attention that I was pulling them up (especially after the first wear). I took them in to have the waist tucked in. The problem with the waist was solved - they fit great....but, they are a tiny bit lopsided. One pocket was slightly higher than the other. This is the second pair this happened to. It is hard to find skinnies for pears. What to do?
