Well, I did it! I ordered the Tartine cardi in maize (a bright yellow) because of Angie's post saying that yellow will be big this spring. It's a risk for me because I normally don't wear yellow. I also ordered the ruffle cardi in cerise, which is a corally red. This is also a new colour for me, but one I've always been attracted to. I ordered them both in Large. Fingers crossed they fit. If not, I'll eBay them. I did try on "Shiny's BR Cardi" today at BR. They only had in in XL, which was a bit big in the arms and underarm area but OK through the torso. This gives me hope that the JCrew Large will be a good fit. And I found a code for free shipping that worked even though they were shipping to Canada. Woo!

Unfortunately, I can't get to a JCrew because they don't have any in Canada. Hence why I need the advice I haven't ever owned any clothing from there, so I have no point of comparison available.

Tanya, thanks! From your description I'm thinking I might be better off with the Large...

I'm also considering ordering this cardi:

I'm 5'6", 148 (and going down too, yay BLB!) and typically a size 8 in JCrew tops, 8 in pants (some jeans 29 or 30) and size 6 in skirts.
But I agree, if you can get down to the store that would be best. I have the Melanie button cuff cardigans which fit very similarly to the Tartine. Our store still has quite a few Melanies, so if yours does, that would be a good one to use to compare.

I don't know if this will help BLB, but here's my experience:

I also own that cardi in rhubarb and I got in XS. I am pretty much almost always XS (I am 32C, 5'6"). I have tried it in both XS and S, and the S was fitting slightly more comfortable in the shoulders and bust, but was way too big in the waist. I got the XS, which fits well in the waist, but it's a tiny bit tight at the bust, but since I layer it over something really thin little button pulling does not bother me.

Hmm, this is a tough one! I think I MIGHT be a bit larger than you two, Sarah and Ana, but I'm not totally sure. I need to do some returns downtown today so maybe I'll see if I can find a cardi at BR to try on and see what size I am there. My bust is 36, my hips are 42, I have strong shoulders, and my waist is 30-31. I wear size 30-31 jeans, but in sweaters and tops I can be anything from a small to a large and a 6 to a 10 depending on the brand (usually medium at the GAP, 42 in MEXX). Since these are final sale I really want to get the right size. It's very tempting to just go for the large because that's the size with better colours available, but the buttercup is nice too and it's available in the M.

I have the rhubarb Tartine cardi and I love it. I'm simiarly sized to Ana (although I'm taller) and I take a Medium in JCrew cardis, smalls in the pull over sweaters. A small fits in the shoulders okay, but the buttons don't stay closed around the bust area. So medium it is. The Tartine isn't boxy at all, which is nice.

I love and own several of these cardigans . This is a great color(don't have that). The price is right. Since cardis are for layering err on the larger size and layer away. You can't do better than this great item!! Buy this before they run out of your size . I just checked my jcrew shopping bag and I am down to 2 items from 5 yesterday...I better buy fast!!

J Crew. But I wear Medium at BR too. The only small thing I wear at J. Crew is the cashmere, but it tends to run very large.

Have you worn anything from Banana Republic? I'd say they are similar in sizing. I wear an 8/10 on top, but have kind of a small waist (31"), and I wear a medium in the Merino cardigans.

Has anyone tried the Tartine cardigan at JCrew? It's on sale for $19.99 and I'd like to order it. I'm unsure whether to go for medium or large. Here is the cardi:
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../96527.jsp

According to the size chart I'm on the high end of Medium in the waist, the small end of Large in the hips, and the small end of Medium in the bust.

The nice thing about the Large size is it's available in the colours I want (rhubarb and maize).

Thoughts?
