I would fear that popped collar and the flaps on the pockets might date this jacket prematurely. But it is very cool.

You might be able to get your dry cleaner to fold down the collar.

(I say this because my dry cleaner has ruined two items I loved by folding down stand-up collars, this year. So infuriating! But apparently it's possible.)

I got this in the spring, camel color, was expecting a heavier weight jacket, it is pretty light, but I've ended up really liking it. I was bothered by the collar - didn't know it would be that way, but i actually do get it to lay down, it never goes full flat, but rather a half pop? it is longer than I've worn in recent years, but I love it. I style it with dresses a lot, and pencil skirts. I could wear it for casual, I always have big ideas about wearing my jackets with jeans on weekends, to class things up a bit ya know? but I never follow through. I want that blue schoolboy jacket (?) that they don't make any more. As if I need another blue blazer!

I saw the Regent blazer on a client yesterday. Good snug fit on a curvier bottom half. (My client is pear shaped). Quite long. Good on taller gals. The lapel stays just like that. It does not fold back.

The collar is my only reservation. I don't have much neck so I don't know how it will look on me.

Sterling, I guess it all depends re suitability for wearing to work. The blogger I linked to works in corporate nyc and wears it so I am pretty sure I could get away with it in 99% of my work scenarios. Mostly it would be for sharp casual non work situations though.

Does anyone know of a camel blazer they'd recommend? I am size L/14 top.

My one concern is that a popped collar cannot be worn for all occasions. For example, it would look silly in business meetings. I think there are a number of occasions where it wouldn't work well. Consider how and when you want to wear it.

I ordered the Regent and the Rhodes blazer in Navy to try. The fit was excellent and the quality looked good. I actually preferred the fit of the Regent blazer, but two things put me off it: the collar is permanently popped - I couldn't get it to look ok un-popped. Also, the jacket (maybe only navy?) had a white satiny lining, which came up inside the collar to the top. I am sure it would show sweat/makeup marks quickly and need to be dry cleaned frequently. The white lining looked great when the collar was popped, but un-popping the collar shows the white lining, which is not the streamlined look I wanted. So I sent the Regent back. I kept the Rhodes blazer and love it.

RG -
Not sure how I feel about the collar. One online reviewer was chastising them for it saying it's cheaper and this blazer isn't as good as last years. But then there's a lot of raving reviews too.

Deborah - I am thinking of trying it.

I also have to say I saw it featured on this blog where she says its a workhorse for her and shows it styled day to night giving me hope it may work. There are pics of it on here here.

It's nice! No experience with J. Crew but I've seen and liked this blazer. I like the popped collar but wonder how it looks in real life, is it "forced" or does it look natural. Also, could you fold it down? It is also a nice length.
