Ok, here are the pictures. I took a bunch so that you could get the idea of the fit. To me this coat seems lightish for a wool/cashmere blend. It isn't heavy by any means. It does not have the thinsulate though, so that might be why. Let me know if you have any other questions, and I hope these are helpful in your coat search! (or to any other petite out there looking for a well fitting coat!).

Shiny, sorry I took so long to get back to you on this! I have had some really busy days so I haven't been online at all! *I was having YLF withdrawals!*

Ok, so I will take pictures for you as soon as I can...hopefully later today. I do think a 4p would be huge on you! I wear the 0 petite and the shoulders are perfect!

I bought the Lady Day Coat (wool) last year and it's going to consignment as soon as I fix the button on it. It is a very nice coat, but I wasn't pleased with the overall fit and unfortunately didn't have time to return it in the crunch of the holidays. Mine had Thinsulate and is fairly warm.

Here's a (cheesy, fairly unflattering) picture of me wearing it last year:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/c.....147054629/

You can totally tell that it's too big in the shoulders.

I've also spent some time looking for a coat and don't mind spending extra money on the right one. What keeps the Plaza from being the right one is
1. The flap pockets, as Marianne mentioned. They seem oddly placed and I'd like to be able to put my hands in them if they get cold.
2. The above-the-knee length. I don't care for the broken lines of skirt hanging out under the coat. It doesn't seem the classic look I'm after. My best skirt length is at the bottom of the knee, so they would be below the coat.

Muequita, I'd love to see the pics! According to the size charts, I should take a 4p, but that sounds wrong to me. Width-wise, I can sometimes wear a Jcrew size regular 0 jackets (even if they are a tad long). I'm 107-109 range, and 5'0," 33B-25-33.

Is your coat lightweight? I have seen some of these coats in the store, and they seemed heavy - but I'm not sure about the ones with cashmere blend.

I have the petite wool-cashmere emily coat in cream. I have only had it for a year, so really I've only used it for one winter. It is very well made though, so I am thinking it will last a while. I have it without thinsulate (got it because we have mostly mild winters here) and it keeps me warm enough. I really like it, and the fit is superb for petite me. I'm 5'2" and weigh about 110, and the 0 Petite is my perfect size.

Let me know if you want me to take pics or whatever other questions I can answer for you! I don't mind helping a fellow petite find a coat, as I know it is a challenging thing for us!

I ordered a J Crew coat a few years back that I ended up returning. It was pretty similar to Plaza and the quality seemed good. The one I ordered didn't have thinsulate and it was very thin. The shoulders were also pretty square, but it might have been a size issue. Plaza is definitely a classic. The only thing I am not crazy about are the flap pockets but it might be just me... sorry I know I'm not very helpful

Shiny: I could see you in so many of these, but...given your recent discussions and observations about coats, it seems you need/want a true classic. And in that case, the Plaza fits the bill. I've never tried a J Crew coat so cannot comment about the fit. Be careful about their return policy, though. It can be quite restrictive.

Shiny, I've never owned a J Crew coat so I can't comment as to your question about how they hold up, but I thought I'd offer an opinion on styles. After looking at the coats offered in petite with thinsulate, I can see the following styles on you:

in dark poppy or the cobalt blue:
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../79203.jsp

in dark poppy or majestic purple:
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../99294.jsp
I'm not sure how warm it would be since the buttons don't go all the way down, though.

I do like the Plaza coat and the charcoal would be nice on you. I really liked this one:
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../99304.jsp
but it doesn't have thinsulate.

I'll be curious to hear if anyone has experience with their jackets as they do have quite a collection to choose from.

I am tempted to give Jcrew petites another try, and order one of their cashmere/blend coats. The price ($300-range) is much more favorable than the all-cashmere coats I've been looking at ($800 and up).

Jcrew has a few to choose from - I'd probably go with the most classic style, in a neutral color. But who knows (they have a cobalt one that is tempting). I am kinda leaning towards charcocal grey (don't ask me why! But feel free to chime in and weigh in....)

Does anyone have one of their coats (regular or petites)? If so, with or without thinsulate? Which style? Do you like their coats, have they worn well? If you have the cashmere-blend version, how lightweight is it?

Which style do you think would flatter me the best and work best with my wardrobe, as you know it:

http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows.....erwear.jsp

... I'm kinda leaning towards the Plaza style in charcoal... but I have to say the Marie coat in cobalt is adorable. Just might not be warm enough.
