Lyn67, if I can sneak some photos, I will!<br /> Saw several lovely outfits today (well, if you love neutral colours and minimal styling, as I do):<br /> -black T-shirt with long, black and cream gingham skirt, black flats<br /> -black architectural cropped (high hip) top with kimono style sleeves, untucked, over long cream linen skirt in slim, straight cut, black ballet flats<br /> -flamingo pink (colour!) sleeveless tank, high neck, under beige dress with very structured ‘apron’ style neckline, A-line cut to ankle and beige hiking sandals (plus usual immaculate pedicure). This was such a stylish, breezy outfit, worn by a lady in her 50s, I will be looking to copy!<br /> -cream denim tailored trouser-jeans with front pleat, worn with cropped, soft khaki knitted T-shirt, white sneakers<br /> -black T-shirt and trousers, with cream open mesh kimono-cut cardigan, black hat</p> <p>Later I wandered through Muji, a mid-range but stylish store. I live near a Muji in my home city, but never see the stock I saw today. It’s hot (30 Celsius) and v humid. This is weather I find difficult to dress stylishly for, so I was interested to see what the style conscious Kyoto locals wear…<br /> In general, clothes are neat- nothing worn or grungy looking (unless deliberate)- but definitely very airy and light. It’s an interesting combination of comfort and neat, and definitely restrained in terms of colours.<br /> For Women<br /> Workwear is tailored trousers or skirts with a shirt or blouse, maybe a fitted T-shirt- fairly traditional office wear and certainly more formal than what’s worn in my workplace.<br /> Non work<br /> Colours are very neutral- with combinations of black, white, beige (very popular), khaki, indigo.<br /> Linen or cotton lantern pants with an architecturally cut loose top in cotton (ending at hip); or sometimes a long (mid thigh) collarless shirt.<br /> Full length baggy jeans with T-shirt, tucked in.<br /> Cotton or hemp overalls over a striped shirt eg black linen overalls with black and white stripe breton style top, and black and white high top sneakers.<br /> Loose T-shirt tucked into long, slim skirt (ankle length) in lightweight undyed denim or plain cotton fabric.<br /> Long (ankle length) sleeveless light cotton dress; fitted at neck and shoulder. Sometimes ends beneath the knee and worn with lightweight leggings<br /> Teva style hiking sandals with immaculately painted toe nails.<br /> Lots of comfortable shoes for walking and bike riding- but always neat! </p>
