I’ve been doing some housecleaning of items in our basement storage (not necessarily wardrobe, although I found a stash of some holding zone and vintage items that I’m selling/donating), so streamlining is very much in my mind as we start this year.</p> <p>In the first two weeks of the year, I’ve already gotten three new (to me) pieces, and I’ve already decided that will be it for January. </p> <p>1. A friend (Una in Alaska who used to post here) let me know that she had a pair of the Rag &amp; Bone sweatpant jeans I had eyed for quite a while. They were too long for her, but fit me well enough — I could use another inch in length, but they work for around-the-house and maybe even out and about if I figure out the best footwear to disguise the shortness (high-tops or combat boots may work). I’ve already worn them three days! Eminently practical for my life right now, and a bargain considering I had thought about buying them at full price. </p> <p>2. I got the JJill long quilted vest, in the burgundy-ish color, and have already worn it for hikes a couple of times. I like having the option of a longer vest sometimes for a little extra warmth on the seat! Good for photo walk days too, and I could see wearing it for casual errand days as well, styled more as athleisure than gear. Another practical purchase bought at significant discount.</p> <p>3. Halogen black and white print top. I’ve been missing a black and white print blouse in my wardrobe. I have solid black and solid white, but sometimes I would like a neutral but crisp pattern to layer under jackets and vests, and the occasional blazer — something that can look professional when needed but still work with denim and a leather jacket. I saw this popover style with the simple collarless neckline (I’m avoiding button fronts for now as the fits are just not easy for me), and thought it may be a good candidate so I ordered it. The style and fit work well so it’s a keeper. I have not worn it yet, but I anticipate it will debut next week when I am giving a Zoom presentation. Bonus: it was also on sale! </p> <p>From a budget standpoint, I’m also doing well if I stay on this track — under $200 spent in January. </p>
