Ooh, that Anthro piece is really lovely. I have this issue too, and I haven't noticed a lot of consistency in brands - it does seem to vary a lot depending on where they think the waist indent should be.

If you're on a budget, Old Navy sells tall blazers online, although they don't usually have them in store. For some reason most stores don't seem to do tall tops, jackets or dresses even if they do pants and skirts.

egd, I love that blazer- it has the more casual/interesting look I'm going for. Thanks for the rec! I'll have to see if it goes on sale soon, so I'll stalk it and check out the rest of their line.

Have you tried Cartonnier blazers? I am a long waisted, small busted pear shape and they work well for me. They tend to be longer with classic shape and interesting details:

Thanks, Unfrumped- I'll stop in at BR and Eddie Bauer, both are near the H&M.

The problem is definitely the waist hitting way too high (it can look comical). But I have a feeling this season I'll be able to find something since I'm seeing longer styles everywhere. Since joining YLF I've gotten much pickier, which is good, but it does mean more looking and trying.

Aida, glad to know the HM blazers work for you. I didn't try on all of them, so maybe I'll find the holy grail blazer there: good price, decent quality, great fit. It finally happened with white jeans when I'd almost given up, so hopefully it'll happen with a jacket.

Hmm I have a longer torso with a shorter waist and find the H&M blazers fit me really nicely; I also tend to prefer shorter jacket lengths for myself as a shortie, so that doesn't really help you. Hopefully you'll get more suggestions!

So, 2 issues for me--whether the jacket itself is too short for the style I'm going for , or whether the waist point on the jacket is too high (or both).
BR and Eddie Bauer and some others are offering loooonger blazers this fall--sometimes specifically called equestrian. Most of the Gap and similar jackets are too short-waisted and some Banana Republic. Tahari, T-Tahari, some Calvin Klein, some AK are longer waisted.

I've not so much found a go-to brand--it varies a lot. So I do a lot of trying on. A short jacket whose waist sits at my natural waist looks much better than a short jacket with a too-high waist.

I recently walked into H and M and loved that there seemed to be blazers everywhere because I'm trying to transition from cardigans to blazers this winter, but... most were too short for my looong torso. I'm going back when it's less busy and trying again- weekends at HM can be a madhouse- but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Any jackets you've come across that would work well for small-but-long torso? Thanks for any advice!
